Insurer premiums for HDFC ERGO Optima Secure (UIN HDFHLIP26058V082526). Profile: one adult (male), individual cover, Mumbai pincode 400001, no pre-existing condition declared, 1-year policy, no add-ons. No GST is added to individual health cover. Premiums quoted on 24 October 2026 for the profile above; your quote depends on your age, health, city and the options you choose.

The quote includes HDFC ERGO's digital discount of up to 5%, which you get when you buy through nyvo too.

Two more discounts sit inside these rows, and both shrink or stop later. HDFC ERGO's my:Optima Secure prospectus gives a new buyer a Favourable Claims Experience Discount of up to 21% in the first year, up to 18% in the second and up to 10% from the third, and nobody aged 60 or over gets it. A first-time buyer aged 35 or under also gets a Lifetime Discount of up to 5%. So the premium rises at your second and third renewals even without a claim, and part of the jump in the age-60 row is the claims discount ending.

What does the Optima Secure premium buy?

₹10 lakh of Optima Secure is ₹20 lakh of cover from the first day: the Secure Benefit adds 100% of the base sum insured at no extra premium. The Plus Benefit then adds 50% of the base a year, claim or no claim, until it reaches another 100%.

Room rent is paid at actuals, there is no co-payment and no disease sub-limit, and the listed non-medical consumables are paid rather than deducted from your bill. If a claim uses the cover up, it refills once a year.

Is Optima Secure the most expensive of the four?

At 30 it was, at ₹12,900 for ₹10 lakh against ₹7,529 on Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 Black. Part of that is the doubled cover, so compare what each rupee buys rather than the premium alone.

Yearly premium at age 30 for ₹10 lakh, one adult, Mumbai, four health plans
PlanAge 30, ₹10 lakhWhat stands out
Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 Black₹7,529No room-category cap; cover grows 100% a year in claim-free years, up to 1000%

What changes an Optima Secure premium?

Age

The chart climbs gently to 45, then steeply: ₹16,756 at 45, ₹24,544 at 50 and ₹43,162 at 60 for ₹10 lakh. Health premiums are re-priced as you move into an older age band at renewal; our note on why premiums rise at renewal explains the other reasons.

Your city

HDFC ERGO prices Delhi above Mumbai: the same 30-year-old with ₹10 lakh was quoted ₹13,980 at a Delhi pincode (110001), ₹12,900 in Mumbai (400001) and ₹9,946 in Bengaluru (560001). Our guide to zone-based premiums explains the co-payment that can follow a cheaper zone into a claim.

Add-ons

Each add-on is priced on top. For a 30-year-old with ₹10 lakh in Mumbai the quote showed Unlimited Restore at ₹64.50 a year, which turns the once-a-year refill into an unlimited one; Optima Wellbeing, for outpatient care, at ₹949; Limitless, a set number of claims of unlimited value, at ₹1,724; and Serious Illness Booster at ₹862.

Sum insured

At 30, going from ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh costs ₹1,157 more a year. The cover grows faster than the premium: 150% more cover for 9% more money. And the Secure Benefit doubles whatever you pick, so ₹25 lakh is ₹50 lakh of cover on the first day. Our guide to how much health cover you need explains why a metro family usually needs more than ₹10 lakh.

Paying for two or three years at once

At 30 with ₹10 lakh, one year was quoted at ₹12,900. Two years paid up front came to ₹24,880, ₹920 less than two single years, and three years to ₹38,230, ₹470 less than three single years. Both comparisons are against single years at today's price; in practice each renewal is re-priced for your age band and any rate revision. Here two years up front saves more than three. Either way the saving is small, and you can only port at the end of the term you paid for.

Your health

These quotes declare no pre-existing condition. If you have one, the insurer can add a loading, apply a waiting period or decline after underwriting, so your price can differ from the chart. Pre-existing conditions wait 36 months on Optima Secure, and named illnesses 24 months. Our explainer on premium loading covers how loadings work.

What to watch at renewal

Budget for the second and third renewals as well as the first year: the claims discount steps down from up to 21% to up to 10% over three years, and a hospitalisation claim lowers it further at the next renewal. In return, the Secure Benefit doubles your cover from day one at no extra premium and room rent is paid at actuals. Maternity isn't in the base plan; it needs the Parenthood add-on, with its own two-year wait.

Optima Secure premium, questions answered

What is the Optima Secure premium for a 30-year-old?

₹12,900 a year for ₹10 lakh of cover, for one adult in Mumbai. ₹5 lakh costs ₹11,820 and ₹25 lakh costs ₹14,057. The price changes with your pincode: the same cover was ₹9,946 in Bengaluru and ₹13,980 in Delhi. A family floater is priced differently again.

Why will my HDFC ERGO Optima Secure premium go up at renewal?

Partly because a discount shrinks. The first-year quote includes a Favourable Claims Experience Discount of up to 21%, which HDFC ERGO's prospectus cuts to up to 18% in year two and up to 10% from year three for a claim-free new buyer, and lowers further after a hospitalisation claim. Age bands and any rate revision add to that.

How much is Optima Secure at 60?

₹43,162 a year for ₹10 lakh at 60, against ₹12,900 at 30, for one adult in Mumbai. Some of that is the claims discount, which stops at 60. If you are in your thirties or forties, buy now and renew without a break so the waiting periods you have served still count.

Does the HDFC ERGO premium include GST?

No GST is added. Individual health insurance has been exempt from GST since 22 September 2025, under CBIC Notification 16/2025-Central Tax (Rate) of 17 September 2025, and every quote on this page carried no tax. Group cover, such as a policy from your employer, still carries 18% GST.
