Talk to an advisor →What's in the Care Supreme base price, and what isn't?
The base plan has no room-rent cap, no sub-limits on modern or conventional treatment, and refills the sum insured without limit inside a year, for the same illness or a different one. It adds a 50% bonus every year up to 100%, and a claim doesn't take it away.
What it leaves out is the consumables bill (gloves, syringes, PPE) that most often survives a settled claim, and maternity, which no add-on puts back. Consumables cover is a paid add-on, priced below.
How does Care Supreme's price compare?
For a 30-year-old with ₹10 lakh it was the second-cheapest of the four plans we priced, ₹1,597 a year above Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 Black. Add the consumables cover most buyers need and the price moves up, as the add-on section shows.
| Plan | Age 30, ₹10 lakh | What stands out |
|---|---|---|
| Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 Black | ₹7,529 | No room-category cap; cover grows 100% a year in claim-free years, up to 1000% |
| Care Supreme | ₹9,126 | No room-rent cap; 50% bonus a year up to 100%; consumables cost extra |
| Aditya Birla Activ One MAX | ₹10,152 | Cover grows 100% a year, claim or no claim, up to 500%; consumables included |
| HDFC ERGO Optima Secure | ₹12,900 | Cover doubled from day one at no extra premium; listed consumables paid |
Same profile as the chart above, all four quoted the same day.
What pushes a Care Supreme premium up?
Add-ons, first
Care Supreme leaves a lot to add-ons. For a 30-year-old with ₹10 lakh in Mumbai the quote priced Claim Shield Plus, which pays the consumables a hospital bills separately, at ₹821 a year; Cumulative Bonus Super, which takes the bonus towards 500%, at ₹1,004; and cutting the pre-existing disease wait at ₹913. Add all three and you pay ₹2,738 more, about 30% on top.
Age bands
Care prices 25, 30 and 35 in one band, at ₹9,126 for ₹10 lakh. The first step comes at 40 (₹11,018), and the biggest between 55 and 60, from ₹19,812 to ₹26,338. Buying before a band changes locks in nothing, because renewal follows your age. More in our note on why premiums rise at renewal.
Your city
The city gap is wide on this plan: ₹6,280 at a Bengaluru pincode (560001), ₹9,126 in Mumbai (400001) and ₹10,802 in Delhi (110001), for the same 30-year-old and ₹10 lakh. Our guide to zone-based premiums explains what a cheaper zone can cost you at claim time.
Sum insured
At 30, going from ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh costs ₹3,852 more a year. The cover grows faster than the premium: 150% more cover for 42% more money. On Care Supreme the step to ₹15 lakh also lifts the road ambulance limit from ₹10,000 a year to the full sum insured. Our guide to how much health cover you need explains why a metro family usually needs more than ₹10 lakh.
Paying for two or three years at once
At 30 with ₹10 lakh, one year was quoted at ₹9,126. Two years paid up front came to ₹17,795, ₹457 less than two single years, and three years to ₹26,674, ₹704 less than three single years. Both comparisons are against single years at today's price; in practice each renewal is re-priced for your age band and any rate revision. The saving is small, and you can only port at the end of the term you paid for.
Your health
These quotes declare no pre-existing condition. If you have one, the insurer can add a loading, apply a waiting period or decline after underwriting, so your price can differ from the chart. On Care Supreme the pre-existing wait is 36 months unless you pay for the add-on that shortens it. Our explainer on premium loading covers how loadings work.
What's the catch with Care Supreme?
The low base price is the point and the catch. No room-rent cap, no disease sub-limits and unlimited restoration of the base cover are in the base plan, but consumables and the bigger bonus are paid extras, and if you drop Cumulative Bonus Super at any renewal, everything it built up is forfeited. Instant Cover waives the pre-existing wait, but cover still starts on day 31.
Care Supreme premium, questions answered
Why does Care Supreme cost the same at 25, 30 and 35?
Because the quote put all three ages in one price band: ₹9,126 a year for ₹10 lakh in Mumbai at each age. The next step comes at 40, where the same cover was ₹11,018. Buying before a band changes locks in nothing, though: renewal follows your age.
How much is Care Supreme at 60?
₹26,338 a year for ₹10 lakh at 60, against ₹9,126 at 30, for one adult in Mumbai. The steepest climbs come after 50. If you are in your thirties or forties, buy now and renew without a break so the waiting periods you have served still count.
What does consumables cover cost on Care Supreme?
₹821 a year for Claim Shield Plus, for a 30-year-old with ₹10 lakh in Mumbai, which takes the policy to ₹9,947. It pays the consumables a hospital bills separately, such as gloves, syringes and PPE, which the base plan leaves to you.
Does the Care Health premium include GST?
No GST is added. Individual health insurance has been exempt from GST since 22 September 2025, under CBIC Notification 16/2025-Central Tax (Rate) of 17 September 2025, and every quote on this page carried no tax. Group cover, such as a policy from your employer, still carries 18% GST.
