How nyvo picks plans, and how we're paid
Every plan we rate is scored on the same published criteria, from the insurer's own documents and IRDAI's data. Here is exactly how, and where our income comes from.
- Every plan we rate is scored on the same published criteria: the insurer's claim record and complaints, the policy's features, and its price for a standard buyer.
- Plan facts come from the insurer's own policy wording, prospectus and brochure. Claim and complaint ratios come from IRDAI's published data.
- When you buy through us, the insurer pays nyvo a commission. You pay the insurer's premium and no fee to nyvo.
- Our advisors are salaried rather than paid per sale, so what they recommend does not change what they earn.
How nyvo rates these plans
Every plan carries a nyvo Health Plan Rating out of 5. The score is calculated as 40% insurer/company score + 40% policy-feature score + 20% premium-value score, followed by a disclosed editorial adjustment of no more than ±5 points. Scores are rounded to the nearest whole point and converted to five stars.
How reliably the insurer actually pays claims when due – Claim Settlement Ratio reported by IRDAI, complemented by claim-service reputation.
Complaints per 10,000 claims from IRDAI's annual report – a strong proxy for how smoothly the post-sales experience runs.
Size and reach of the cashless hospital network, which determines how easily a policyholder can access treatment without out-of-pocket payment at admission.
Room-rent limits, disease sub-limits, co-pay, no-claim bonus, restoration benefit, consumables cover, annual health check-up, and pre/post hospitalisation duration. Add-on availability is treated as having the feature.
How the plan's price compares to similar plans for a like-for-like buyer scenario (Family of 4, eldest 40, ₹10 lakh cover), drawn from nyvo's premium database.
How nyvo rates these term plans
Every plan above carries a nyvo Term Plan Rating out of 5. We assess each plan against the same set of criteria below, so the scores are directly comparable across insurers.
How reliably the insurer actually pays death claims – Claim Settlement Ratio and Amount Settlement Ratio (what share of the claimed amount is actually paid) from IRDAI's annual report.
Complaints per 10,000 claims – a strong proxy for how smoothly the post-sales and claim experience runs.
Solvency ratio, time in market and scale of new business – indicators that the insurer will still be around 30+ years from now, when a term-plan claim is most likely to arise.
Cover till age ≥ 65, critical illness rider, accidental death benefit, premium waiver on disability, multiple payout options (lump sum / monthly income / mixed), special exit value and increasing cover option.
How the plan's price compares to similar term plans for a like-for-like buyer (₹1 Crore cover, non-smoker, ages 25-45), drawn from nyvo's term-premium database.
Where do the facts come from?
The documents that carry the plan's UIN decide what a plan covers, excludes and charges. When a marketing page and the wording disagree, the wording wins.
For cover options, discounts, add-ons and deductibles, checked against the policy wording.
For claim settlement and complaint ratios, taken as a weighted average of the last three financial years, so one unusual year does not swing a score.
We never publish a ratio from an insurer's marketing or copy another website's figures, and where a figure is not available we leave it out rather than show a zero.
Every plan page links the insurer's own documents, so you can check any fact against the source. Start from our plan directory.
Who pays nyvo, and what does that mean for you?
nyvo insurance Services LLP is an IRDAI-registered corporate agent (composite), licence number CA1085. When you buy a policy through us, the insurer pays nyvo a commission.
As a corporate agent, nyvo can arrange policies only with the insurers it has an arrangement with. Our ratings and comparisons apply the same criteria to every plan we cover.
You pay the premium the insurer charges. nyvo does not charge you a fee for advice, for the call or for helping you buy.
Our advisors are salaried rather than paid per sale, so what they recommend does not change what they earn. The ratings above use the same criteria for every plan, and commission is not one of them.
Our licence details, and how to verify them, are on our IRDAI licence and contact page.
