A free insurance advisor for your health and term cover
Talk to a salaried, IRDAI-certified nyvo advisor about health insurance, term insurance or both. We compare plans on their own documents, fill the proposal form with you, and are still there when a claim comes. The call is free, and you don't have to buy anything.
What does an insurance advisor do?
An insurance advisor helps you decide how much cover you need, compares plans on their policy wording rather than their brochures, helps you fill the proposal form honestly, and helps you or your family when there's a claim. At nyvo that help comes from a salaried, IRDAI-certified advisor, for health and term insurance alike, at no cost to you. If you want to talk about both, it's the same call.
What's the difference between an insurance advisor and an agent?
Advisor is a job title, not an IRDAI licence. Whoever you speak to is either the insurer's own staff or an intermediary IRDAI regulates. An individual agent is appointed by an insurer and can act for at most one life insurer, one general insurer and one health insurer at a time (IRDAI (Appointment of Insurance Agents) Regulations, 2016). So an agent shows you one company's term plans.
| Question | Individual insurance agent | nyvo |
|---|---|---|
| How they are registered | Appointed by an insurer, which issues the agent an identity card | Registered with IRDAI as a corporate agent (composite), licence CA1085 |
| Whose plans they can offer | At most one life insurer, one general insurer and one health insurer at a time | The insurers nyvo has an arrangement with, across life, general and health insurance |
| How they are paid | Commission from the insurer; they must tell you the commission scale if you ask | The insurer pays nyvo a commission; our advisors are salaried, not paid per sale |
| How you check them | Ask to see the identity card the insurer issued | Licence CA1085, on IRDAI's list of corporate agents; the full card is on our licence page |
Brokers, banks and comparison websites are intermediaries too, each paid in its own way. Our guide on how to choose an insurance advisor sets out who can sell you a policy, whom each one acts for, and the questions to ask before you buy.
What does the call cover for health insurance?
The advisor works out how much sum insured your family needs for your city, and whether your employer's cover is enough on its own. Then they read the plans' wording side by side, because room-rent limits, disease sub-limits, co-pay and waiting periods decide what a plan actually pays. They go through every health question on the proposal form with you, and they work the claim with you later: documents, insurer queries, follow-ups and escalation.
Health policies bought through nyvo also carry our Claim Support Guarantee. The detail, including how parents with a condition are covered, is on our health insurance advisor page.

What does the call cover for term insurance?
The advisor starts with the amount: your loans, 10 to 15 years of household expenses and the goals you'd want funded, less your liquid assets and the life cover you already have. Our guide to how much term cover you need walks through the same sum. Then how long the cover should run, which plans take someone your age, and how their insurers handle claims; you can see every plan we've read in our term insurance comparison.
They work out your quotes on the call (the premiums we publish are on term insurance quotes by age), and go through the proposal form with you, because tobacco, health and income all go on it and a wrong answer can cost the claim. Last, they'll ask you to tell your family where the policy is and whom to call. Your nominee is the one who claims.
The insurer has 15 days to pay
IRDAI requires the insurer to settle a death claim within 15 days of intimation, or 45 days where it investigates (Master Circular on Protection of Policyholders' Interests, 5 September 2024). nyvo helps your nominee with the claim form and documents, and follows up with the insurer, the ombudsman or IRDAI if anything is delayed.
What does a nyvo advisor cost you?
Nothing. You pay the insurer's filed premium and no fee to nyvo. nyvo is paid by the insurer as a registered corporate agent, and our advisors are salaried, so what they recommend does not change what they earn. Where an insurer files a discount only for buying on its own website, buying direct gets you that discount; our guide on where to buy health insurance explains when. How we rate plans, and how we are paid, is set out in how we pick plans.
How do you know an advisor is licensed?

“Every year at renewal, I was bombarded with calls offering discounts to port my health insurance.
