Insurer premiums for ICICI Pru iProtect Smart Plus (UIN 105N205V08). Profile: a man, ₹1 crore of cover to age 60, regular pay, yearly mode, no riders, no diabetes, salaried graduate earning ₹15 lakh a year, Mumbai pincode 400001. No GST is added to individual life cover. Premiums quoted on 24 October 2026 for the profile above; your quote depends on your age, health, city and the options you choose.
Every figure includes ICICI's digital discount of up to 5%, which runs for the whole policy term and which you get when you buy through nyvo too.
Year one costs less. A salaried buyer gets up to 12.5% off the first premium, so our 30-year-old non-smoker was quoted ₹9,497 for year one and ₹10,854 from year two. The table shows the second figure because it is the one you pay for the other 29 years.
Want this priced for your own age and health?
The table is one profile. An advisor can quote iProtect Smart Plus against the other plans for your exact age, income and medical history, and tell you which riders are worth the money.
Talk to an advisor →What do you get for that premium?
The price is for the Life variant: pure cover that pays your family ₹1 crore if you die before 60, and pays the whole amount early if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness. Life Plus adds a separate accidental death payout on top and costs more; most families don't need it.
Decide how your family gets the money before you buy, because iProtect Smart Plus fixes it for good: one lump sum, a monthly income for ten years, a split of the two, or an income that rises 10% a year. The quote came with five benefits at no extra cost: the life stage benefit, terminal illness, Premium Break, health management services and Insta-Payment.
The life stage benefit is the useful one. On a regular-pay policy you can raise cover by 50% when you marry, 25% for each of your first two children and 100% when a home loan is disbursed, subject to the insurer's underwriting at the time.
Is ICICI dearer than the other big term plans?
At 30 it was the dearest of the four we priced on the same day, ₹555 a year above Bajaj Life eTouch II. It stayed the dearest at 35 and 40, then dropped back at 45, where three of the four plans sat within ₹80 of each other.
| Plan | Non-smoker, 30 | Smoker, 30 |
|---|---|---|
| Bajaj Life eTouch II | ₹10,299 | ₹18,293 |
| HDFC Life Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus | ₹10,531 | ₹18,430 |
| Axis Max Life Smart Term Plan Plus | ₹10,616 | ₹19,109 |
| ICICI Pru iProtect Smart Plus | ₹10,854 | ₹18,453 |
Same profile and terms as the table above, all four quoted the same day. The full ₹1 crore comparison is in our best term plan for ₹1 crore guide.
What changes the iProtect Smart Plus price?
The age you buy at
Nothing else on this list moves the price as much, and the premium you start on stays level for the whole term. A 25-year-old pays ₹9,288; a 40-year-old pays ₹19,078 for the same ₹1 crore, 105% more, and gets 20 years of cover instead of 35.
Smoking
ICICI asks whether you have smoked at all in the last 12 months. Say yes and our 30-year-old pays ₹18,453 instead of ₹10,854, 1.7 times as much; at 45 it is ₹41,934. Declare it honestly, because a hidden habit is grounds to reject a death claim. Our guide on smoker rates and medicals explains how insurers check.
How long the cover runs
iProtect Smart Plus can run to 85, or to 99 as whole-life cover on the Life variant. Cover to 70 instead of 60 cost our 30-year-old ₹13,098 a year, ₹2,244 more, for ten extra years. Pick the age when your loans are cleared and your children earn; our note on choosing the policy term walks through it.
Paying monthly
ICICI takes yearly, half-yearly or monthly premiums, but not quarterly. Monthly came to ₹950, which is ₹11,400 over a year: ₹546 more than paying once.
Paying for fewer years
The quote offered 15, 10, 7 or 5 years of payments instead of 30. Ten years was ₹22,093 a year from year two: ₹2,20,930 in all against ₹3,25,620 on regular pay, but 2.0 times the yearly outgo while your other costs are highest. You can also start on regular pay and switch after three policy years, unless you bought a rider at the start. Our limited pay vs regular pay guide has the trade-off.
Being a woman
A 30-year-old woman with the same profile was quoted ₹9,226, 15% less than a man.
Your health and the insurer's checks
The quote asks about diabetes, income, education, whether you are salaried and your pincode before it shows a price, and we kept all of these fixed. ICICI Prudential sets the final premium only after its own underwriting, so what your medical reports and declarations show can add a loading or change the offer.
Which riders does iProtect Smart Plus offer?
The quote listed four paid add-ons. Only one had a price before any set-up: waiver of premium on permanent disability, at ₹124 on the first-year quote for our 30-year-old. Critical illness, accidental death and accidental total and permanent disability are priced only once you configure them, so we have not priced them. Our plan record documents one in detail:
- Critical illness (ICICI Pru Non-Linked Health Protect Rider). A lump sum on a listed critical illness, in a 20-condition or a 60-condition package fixed at purchase. There is a 90-day waiting period and you must survive 15 days from diagnosis. It pays nothing on death.
Which of these are worth paying for is in our guides to term insurance riders and the waiver of premium rider.
What should you check before choosing ICICI on price?
Three things matter more than the last few hundred rupees here. How your family is paid is fixed at purchase and cannot be changed later. Smart Exit, which returns your premiums, needs 25 policy years and an age of at least 60 and is closed in the last five years, so on cover to 60 it never applies. And adding any rider at the point of sale permanently blocks a later switch from regular pay to limited pay.
ICICI Prudential premium, questions answered
Is ICICI Pru iProtect Smart Plus the cheapest of the big term plans?
No, not at any of the six ages we priced. We priced four plans for ₹1 crore to 60 on the same day. It was the dearest of the four at 30, 35 and 40. At 30 a non-smoker pays ₹10,854 here against ₹10,299 on Bajaj Life eTouch II. The gaps are small, so weigh how each plan pays out and how the insurer handles claims before price.
How much is ICICI term insurance for ₹1 crore at 30?
₹10,854 a year for a non-smoker man and ₹18,453 for a smoker, for cover to 60 on iProtect Smart Plus, from the second year. The first year was ₹9,497 for the non-smoker because of a salaried discount of up to 12.5%. Your own figure moves with your age, health and income.
Can I pay ICICI iProtect Smart Plus premiums monthly?
Yes. A 30-year-old non-smoker was quoted ₹950 a month from the second year, which comes to ₹11,400 over a year against ₹10,854 paid once a year. Monthly is easier on cash flow; yearly is cheaper. Quarterly payment is not offered on this plan.
Does the ICICI Prudential premium include GST?
No GST is added. Individual life insurance has been exempt from GST since 22 September 2025, under CBIC Notification 16/2025-Central Tax (Rate) of 17 September 2025, and every quote on this page carried no tax. Group cover, such as a policy from your employer, still carries 18% GST.
