HDFC Life Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus costs a 30-year-old non-smoker ₹10,531 a year for ₹1 crore of cover to age 60, quoted on 24 October 2026. A smoker of 30 pays ₹18,430. The same cover bought at 45 costs ₹24,657 a year, so the age you start at matters most.

Insurer premiums for HDFC Life Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus (UIN 101N189V04). Profile: a man, ₹1 crore of cover to age 60, regular pay, yearly mode, no riders, no diabetes, salaried graduate earning ₹15 lakh a year, Mumbai pincode 400001. No GST is added to individual life cover. Premiums quoted on 24 October 2026 for the profile above; your quote depends on your age, health, city and the options you choose.
The quote took up to 15% off the first year, so our 30-year-old non-smoker pays ₹8,777 in year one and ₹10,531 after that. The table uses the second figure because it is what you pay for the remaining 29 years.
Want this priced for your own age and health?
The table is one profile. An advisor can quote Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus against the other plans for your exact age, income and medical history, and tell you which riders are worth the money.
Talk to an advisor →What does HDFC Life include in that price?
The quote is for the Life variant: ₹1 crore to your family on death, and a terminal illness diagnosed during the term brings the payout forward. HDFC Life caps that early payout at ₹2 crore, so on ₹1 crore it is the whole amount. Five benefits came at no extra cost: terminal illness, health management services, Premium Break, Insta-Payment and the life stage benefit.
Two things set it apart from the other plans here. You can choose cover that steps up, 5% a year or 10% every five years, to 200% of the start (that costs more than the level cover we priced). And a woman can pause premiums during pregnancy or after her spouse's death without the policy lapsing.
How does HDFC Life compare on price?
It was second-cheapest at 30, ₹232 a year above Bajaj Life eTouch II, and the cheapest of the four at 45 by ₹10. At none of the six ages we priced was it the dearest.
| Plan | Non-smoker, 30 | Smoker, 30 |
|---|---|---|
| Bajaj Life eTouch II | ₹10,299 | ₹18,293 |
| HDFC Life Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus | ₹10,531 | ₹18,430 |
| Axis Max Life Smart Term Plan Plus | ₹10,616 | ₹19,109 |
| ICICI Pru iProtect Smart Plus | ₹10,854 | ₹18,453 |
Same profile and terms as the table above, all four quoted the same day. The full ₹1 crore comparison is in our best term plan for ₹1 crore guide.
What moves an HDFC Life quote up or down?
Every five years you wait
The steps get bigger with age. From 25 to 30 the premium rises ₹1,298; from 40 to 45 it rises ₹6,297; from 45 to 50 it rises ₹9,828. Whatever you start on stays level for the term.
Paying for fewer years
HDFC Life offered more payment terms than the others: 15, 12, 10, 7 or 5 years. Ten years was ₹22,564 a year from year two and five years ₹39,828. Ten payments add up to ₹2,25,640 against ₹3,15,930 over 30 years on regular pay, but if the policy ends early, regular pay costs less. Our limited pay vs regular pay guide sets out who it suits.
Cover past 60
Taking the cover to 70 cost ₹12,377 a year, ₹1,846 more than cover to 60. See our note on choosing the policy term before you choose.
Smoking
HDFC Life looks back further than ICICI or Bajaj: it asks whether you have smoked in the last 24 months. A 30-year-old smoker was quoted ₹18,430, 1.8 times the non-smoker price. More in our guide on smoker rates and medicals.
Monthly or yearly
Monthly was ₹921, or ₹11,052 a year, ₹521 more than one yearly payment.
Women
A 30-year-old woman was quoted ₹8,952, 15% less than a man with the same profile.
Your health and the insurer's checks
The quote asks about diabetes, income, education, whether you are salaried and your pincode before it shows a price, and we kept all of these fixed. HDFC Life sets the final premium only after its own underwriting, so what your medical reports and declarations show can add a loading or change the offer.
What do HDFC Life's riders cost?
Each rider is priced on its own, so a quote can climb well above the plain premium. For a 30-year-old non-smoker with ₹1 crore to 60, waiver of premium was quoted at ₹413 for the first year and ₹495 a year after that. We did not price the others.
- Waiver of premium. Future premiums are waived if you are diagnosed with one of the rider's 60 listed conditions, or on disability. The cover carries on.
- Critical illness (Health Plus). A lump sum on any of 60 listed conditions. It runs for at most 15 years, with a 90-day waiting period and a 15-day survival period after diagnosis.
- Accidental income benefit. 1% of the sum assured every month for 10 years if an accident leaves you totally and permanently disabled.
Which of these are worth paying for is in our guides to term insurance riders and the waiver of premium rider.
Where does Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus fall short?
The early exit option, HDFC Life's Smart Exit, refunds your base premiums only on a policy term of 31 years or more, and the quote showed it as not included for our 30-year-old buying cover to 60. Cover can rise only at named events such as marriage, a child or a home loan, not whenever you like. And the rider list is long: decide which ones you need before the quote, not during it.
HDFC Life premium, questions answered
Is HDFC Life Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus the cheapest of the big term plans?
Yes at 45, not at every age. We priced four plans for ₹1 crore to 60 on the same day. It was never the dearest of the four. At 30 a non-smoker pays ₹10,531 here against ₹10,299 on Bajaj Life eTouch II. The gaps are small, so weigh how each plan pays out and how the insurer handles claims before price.
Do women pay less for HDFC Life term insurance?
Yes. A 30-year-old woman with the same profile was quoted ₹8,952 a year for ₹1 crore to 60 on Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus, against ₹10,531 for a man. The plan also lets a woman pause premiums during pregnancy or after her spouse's death.
Will I get my premiums back on HDFC Life Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus?
Not on cover to 60 bought at 30. The early exit option, which refunds base premiums after 25 policy years, needs a policy term of at least 31 years, and the quote showed it as not included for our profile. A longer term, such as cover to 65 at 30, would meet that condition.
Does the HDFC Life premium include GST?
No GST is added. Individual life insurance has been exempt from GST since 22 September 2025, under CBIC Notification 16/2025-Central Tax (Rate) of 17 September 2025, and every quote on this page carried no tax. Group cover, such as a policy from your employer, still carries 18% GST.
