Before paying, check your policy. Some health plans include a vitamin D test within the annual check-up, though it is less universally covered than a lipid profile or blood sugar.

What does a vitamin D test cost in India?

₹440

That is the cheapest of the three national labs we checked, Healthians, for a vitamin D (25-hydroxy) test in Bangalore, read July 2026. The dearest, Orange Health at ₹990, is more than double. This is a test where the lab you pick makes a real difference to the bill.

The three labs, as listed

LabPrice (Bangalore)
Healthians₹440
Redcliffe Labs₹599
Orange Health Labs₹990

Three labs, one city, one week, and a spread of more than ₹500. Orange Health's price reflects its express home collection, but the 25-hydroxy vitamin D measured is the same everywhere. When a test's price varies this much, it is worth checking two or three labs before booking. Prices also differ by city and move over time.

Before you pay it

Many health insurance policies include an annual health check-up, and some cover a vitamin D test within it, though it is less universally included than a lipid profile or blood sugar. It is usually a named benefit delivered cashless at a listed diagnostic centre, and the annual check-up is one of the least-claimed benefits in Indian health insurance.

Check your policy schedule before you pay a lab. Our guide to which plans pay for your check-up sets out the terms plan by plan, and the full body checkup cost page covers the packages a vitamin D test sometimes sits inside.

Two things worth knowing

Vitamin D is often sold as a package with B12. Labs frequently bundle a vitamin B12 test with vitamin D at a combined price. If your doctor has asked for both, the package is usually cheaper than buying them separately; if only one, the standalone price above applies. Whether you need the test is a decision for your doctor.

The tax break is smaller than it sounds. Section 80D allows ₹5,000 a year for preventive health check-ups, and it sits inside your overall 80D limit rather than on top of it. If you are already claiming the full limit on premiums, the check-up adds nothing. The mechanics are in our guide to Section 80D deductions.

FAQs

How much does a vitamin D test cost in India?

Between ₹440 and ₹990 across Healthians, Redcliffe and Orange Health, read in Bangalore in July 2026. The spread is wide, so comparing labs matters here. Prices differ by lab and city and change often.

Is a vitamin D test covered by health insurance?

Sometimes, as part of the annual health check-up rather than as a claim. Vitamin D is less universally included than a lipid profile or blood sugar, so coverage varies more between plans. Where included, it is delivered cashless at a listed diagnostic centre and does not reduce your sum insured. Check your own policy schedule.

What does a vitamin D test measure?

It measures 25-hydroxy vitamin D, sometimes written as vitamin D total, which is the standard marker doctors use to assess your vitamin D status. It is a single parameter from one blood sample. What the result means, and whether you need the test, are questions for your doctor.

Can I claim a vitamin D test under 80D?

Up to ₹5,000 a year for preventive health check-ups, which can be paid in cash. The catch is that this ₹5,000 sits within your overall Section 80D limit rather than being added to it, so it only helps if you are under the limit already.

Do I need to fast before a vitamin D test?

No. A vitamin D test does not require fasting and can be done at any time of day. If it is bundled with a lipid profile or fasting sugar test, follow the fasting instruction for those.
