Thyroid Test Price in India: From ₹429
A thyroid profile test (T3, T4, TSH) costs from ₹429 to ₹500 across three national labs (Bangalore, July 2026). Before you pay, check whether your health policy's free annual check-up already covers it.

What does a thyroid test cost in India?
₹429
That is the cheapest of the three national labs we checked, Redcliffe Labs, for a standard thyroid profile (T3, T4, TSH) in Bangalore, read July 2026. The dearest, Orange Health, is ₹500. The whole range is unusually narrow here.
A thyroid profile measures three hormones, T3, T4 and TSH, and needs no fasting.
The three labs, as listed
| Lab | Price (Bangalore) |
|---|---|
| Redcliffe Labs | ₹429 |
| Healthians | ₹449 |
| Orange Health Labs | ₹500 |
Three labs, one city, one week, and only ₹71 between the cheapest and the dearest. That is closer than most tests, because a thyroid profile is a standard, high-volume panel every lab runs. Prices still differ by city and move over time, so treat these as the order of magnitude.
A cheaper TSH-only test exists, often under ₹300, but it measures one hormone rather than three. Whether you need the full profile is a question for your doctor.
Before you pay it
Most health insurance policies include an annual health check-up, and many cover a thyroid profile within it. It is a named benefit in the wording, usually delivered cashless at a listed diagnostic centre, and it is one of the least-claimed benefits in Indian health insurance.
Terms vary between plans. Check your policy schedule before you pay a lab. Our guide to which plans pay for your check-up sets out the terms plan by plan, and the full body checkup cost page covers the packages a thyroid profile usually sits inside.
Two things worth knowing
TSH-only is not the same test. A TSH test alone is cheaper but measures a single hormone. A full thyroid profile adds T3 and T4. Which you need is a medical decision for your doctor, not a pricing one, and paying more does not make the same test more accurate.
The tax break is smaller than it sounds. Section 80D allows ₹5,000 a year for preventive health check-ups, and it sits inside your overall 80D limit rather than on top of it. If you are already claiming the full limit on premiums, the check-up adds nothing. The mechanics are in our guide to Section 80D deductions.
FAQs
How much does a thyroid test cost in India?
Between ₹429 and ₹500 for a full thyroid profile (T3, T4, TSH) across Redcliffe, Healthians and Orange Health, read in Bangalore in July 2026. A TSH-only test is cheaper, often under ₹300. Prices differ by lab and city and change often.
Is a thyroid test covered by health insurance?
Often, as part of the annual health check-up rather than as a claim. Most health policies include a periodic check-up delivered cashless at a listed diagnostic centre, and many include a thyroid profile. It does not reduce your sum insured. Coverage differs between plans, so check your own policy schedule.
The result came back abnormal. Can I still buy health insurance?
Yes, and thyroid is one of the easier conditions to insure. Expect the insurer to ask for this report, apply a loading of roughly 5% to 15% on the premium, and put a waiting period on thyroid-related claims while covering everything else from day one. Declare it: the loading is small and an undisclosed condition is what gets a claim rejected years later. Our guide to health insurance with a thyroid condition sets out the loadings and waiting periods insurer by insurer.
What is the difference between a TSH test and a thyroid profile?
A TSH test measures one hormone, thyroid-stimulating hormone, and is the cheaper option. A full thyroid profile adds Total T3 and Total T4, three parameters in all. Which one you need is a decision for your doctor. The higher price of the profile buys more parameters, not more accuracy on the same one.
Can I claim a thyroid test under 80D?
Up to ₹5,000 a year for preventive health check-ups, which can be paid in cash. The catch is that this ₹5,000 sits within your overall Section 80D limit rather than being added to it, so it only helps if you are under the limit already.
Do I need to fast before a thyroid test?
No. A standard thyroid profile does not require fasting, and labs usually recommend a morning sample for consistency. Follow the instruction your lab gives when you book.
