SBI General network hospitals: searching by TPA and city, and the cautious list
SBI General's cashless network runs to about 17,000 hospitals, the figure on our SBI plan pages (nyvo policy database, October 2026). SBI doesn't publish city-wise counts we could read, and its own search works differently from most: you choose a TPA first, then state and city. It also keeps a separate "Cautious Hospitals" list.

How do I find an SBI General hospital in my city?
Open SBI General's network hospital search. It asks for a TPA first, then a state and a city. If your health card names a TPA, pick that one. If it doesn't, ask the healthline which option your policy sits under before you trust a result.
SBI doesn't show a count per city that we could read on 24 October 2026, so we haven't printed one. Its page also says the list changes and points you to the TPA's own website for the latest version.
How do I check a hospital is cashless on my SBI General policy?
- 1Search the hospital on SBI General's network search, choosing your TPA, state and city.
- 2Check the same hospital isn't on the "Cautious Hospitals" list on that page.
- 3Call the healthline, 1800 210 3366 or 1800 210 6366, and confirm the hospital is active for cashless on your policy.
- 4Ask the hospital's insurance desk whether it's taking cashless for SBI General right now, for your treatment. Desks are sometimes behind on their own status, so if the desk and SBI General disagree, go by SBI General.
- 5For a planned admission, start the pre-authorisation before the day you're admitted and keep the approval reference. It's what you quote if anything changes during the stay.
What are SBI General's cautious and common empanelment hospitals?
SBI's search page has two buttons beside the main network. "Common Empanelment Network" is SBI's list of hospitals under common empanelment, the shared arrangement that IRDAI's 2024 health master circular asks insurers and the insurance councils to work towards, so that cashless can be had anywhere.
"Cautious Hospitals" isn't explained on the page. We'd treat a hospital on it as one to ring SBI about before planning an admission there, not after.
SBI's page also says what to do if a network hospital refuses cashless: go for reimbursement and submit the claim documents. That's your fallback with any insurer, and it doesn't change what the policy pays.
What happens at the hospital desk?
At a network hospital, the insurance desk sends the cashless request with your health card and ID. IRDAI's 2024 Master Circular on Health Insurance Business gives the insurer one hour to decide on a cashless request and three hours to give final approval once the hospital asks to discharge you. If final approval takes longer than three hours, any extra the hospital charges for the wait is the insurer's to bear, not yours.
Cashless isn't a zero bill. Co-pay, non-payable items and anything above your plan's limits are still yours at discharge. Our SBI General claim guide has the full steps and the documents, and if a request stalls, call SBI General's healthline, 1800 210 3366.
Hospital not in the network? Since January 2024, Cashless Everywhere lets you ask for cashless at a hospital outside the network too. Tell SBI General at least 48 hours before a planned admission; the hospital has to agree, and an excluded hospital is the exception. How cashless works in general is in our guide to cashless network hospitals.
SBI General network hospitals: questions people ask
Why does SBI General's hospital search ask for a TPA?
Because SBI's search sorts its hospitals by TPA, and its page says the latest list is on the TPA's own website. Pick the TPA named on your health card. If your card doesn't name one, call the healthline on 1800 210 3366 and ask which option to choose for your policy.
What if an SBI General network hospital refuses cashless?
Pay and claim reimbursement. SBI's own network page says exactly that: if a hospital refuses cashless, submit the claim documents as set out in the claim form. Your policy pays on the same terms either way; you just carry the bill until the claim is settled.
What is SBI General's cautious hospitals list?
It's a separate list on SBI's network search page, next to the main network and the common empanelment list. SBI doesn't explain it on that page, so if a hospital you're considering appears on it, call the healthline before you plan an admission there.
Which SBI General number covers hospital and claim questions?
The healthline, 1800 210 3366 or 1800 210 6366, open 24/7. SBI's contact page says it covers in-house retail health, group health, personal accident and benefit claims (read 24 October 2026). For anything that isn't a health or accident claim, SBI's general customer service line is 1800 102 1111, also open 24/7.
