How many New India PPN hospitals are there in my city?
These are New India's own Preferred Provider Network lists, one page per city, counted row by row on 24 October 2026. They're the PPN hospitals only, not the whole cashless network, which runs through New India's TPAs.
| City | PPN hospitals listed |
|---|---|
| Mumbai | 912 |
| Delhi | 786 |
| Hyderabad | 574 |
| Chennai | 350 |
| Bengaluru | 340 |
| Ahmedabad | 310 |
| Pune | 294 |
| Chandigarh | 293 |
| Coimbatore | 246 |
| Kolkata | 160 |
| Jaipur | 136 |
| Nagpur | 105 |
| Indore | 48 |
| Madurai | 24 |
| Vijayawada | 18 |
| Kochi | 5 |
| Surat | 5 |
| Vizag | 3 |
New India groups these lists by region, not city limits: Delhi's covers Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida, Mumbai's covers Thane and Navi Mumbai, and Chandigarh's covers Mohali, Panchkula and Ludhiana. A small count, such as Vizag (3) or Kochi (5), is the PPN list only; your TPA's network search covers the rest.
How do I check a hospital is cashless on my New India Assurance policy?
- 1Find the TPA named on your New India health card. That decides which network list is yours.
- 2Search that TPA's network from the "Third Party Administrator" tab on New India's hospital page. For planned surgery, check your city's PPN list on the same page as well.
- 3Call the TPA number on your card to confirm the hospital is active for cashless. New India's own toll-free line is 1800-209-1415.
- 4Ask the hospital's insurance desk whether it's taking cashless for New India Assurance right now, for your treatment. Desks are sometimes behind on their own status, so if the desk and New India Assurance disagree, go by New India Assurance.
- 5For a planned admission, start the pre-authorisation before the day you're admitted and keep the approval reference. It's what you quote if anything changes during the stay.
What's a PPN hospital, and why does it matter on a New India policy?
New India Mediclaim's wording (clause 2.56) defines a Preferred Provider Network hospital as a network hospital in a specific city that has agreed cashless package prices with New India for listed planned procedures. For one of those procedures at a PPN hospital, cashless runs at the package price.
The catch is on the reimbursement side. The same clause says that if you have a listed procedure at a PPN hospital and claim it back instead of going cashless, New India pays up to the PPN package rate, not your bill. So for planned surgery at a PPN hospital, go cashless. Our guide to hospital package rates explains what a package covers and what it leaves out.
Outside the PPN, New India's cashless network runs through third-party administrators. Its hospital page links to each TPA's own network search, Medi Assist, FHPL, Vidal Health and Paramount among them, and the TPA on your health card is the one whose list applies to you. New India Mediclaim also carries the standard excluded-provider clause (Code-Excl 11), so at a hospital New India has excluded, it pays only up to stabilisation, and only in a life-threatening situation or after an accident.
What happens at the hospital desk?
At a network hospital, the insurance desk sends the cashless request with your health card and ID. IRDAI's 2024 Master Circular on Health Insurance Business gives the insurer one hour to decide on a cashless request and three hours to give final approval once the hospital asks to discharge you. If final approval takes longer than three hours, any extra the hospital charges for the wait is the insurer's to bear, not yours.
Cashless isn't a zero bill. Co-pay, non-payable items and anything above your plan's limits are still yours at discharge. Our New India Assurance claim guide has the full steps and the documents, and if a request stalls, call the TPA number on your New India health card.
Hospital not in the network? Since January 2024, Cashless Everywhere lets you ask for cashless at a hospital outside the network too. Tell New India Assurance at least 48 hours before a planned admission; the hospital has to agree, and an excluded hospital is the exception. How cashless works in general is in our guide to cashless network hospitals.
New India Assurance network hospitals: questions people ask
Which cities have New India PPN hospitals?
Eighteen: Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Kolkata, Jaipur, Nagpur, Indore, Madurai, Vijayawada, Kochi, Surat and Vizag. Mumbai's list ran to 912 hospitals when we counted on 24 October 2026, and Vizag's to 3. Everywhere else, New India's cashless network of 20,855 hospitals runs through its TPAs.
What is a PPN hospital in New India Mediclaim?
It's a network hospital that has agreed cashless package prices with New India for listed planned procedures in its city, under clause 2.56 of the New India Mediclaim wording. The catch: if you have one of those procedures at a PPN hospital and claim reimbursement instead, New India pays only up to the PPN package rate.
Who approves cashless on a New India Assurance policy?
Usually the TPA named on your health card. New India's hospital page lists the TPAs it works with and links to each one's network search. Call the number on your card first; New India's toll-free line, 1800-209-1415, is the fallback (newindia.co.in, read 24 October 2026).
Can I download New India's hospital list?
Partly. New India prints the full PPN list for each of 18 cities on its site, with each hospital's ROHINI code, address and area. Each city page has a "Download Hospital List" button, but it returned the web page rather than a spreadsheet when we tried on 24 October 2026, so read the list on the page.
