Key takeaways
Both plans have no room rent cap, no disease sub-limits and no co-payment in the base plan, so the choice comes down to how cover grows and who it covers.
ReAssure 3.0 Black grows cover faster, adding 100% of base cover in each claim-free year up to 1000%, while Care Supreme adds 50% a year up to 100% but keeps it after a claim.
Care Supreme comes in ten cover sizes from ₹5 lakh to ₹6 crore; ReAssure 3.0 Black comes at ₹5 lakh, ₹10 lakh or Unlimited.
Neither plan covers maternity, so a couple planning a child should look at a different plan.

Care Supreme or Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0: which should you buy?

Care Supreme and Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 Black both have no room rent cap, no disease sub-limits and no co-payment in the base plan. ReAssure 3.0 grows your cover faster, adding 100% of base cover a year up to 1000%, while Care Supreme adds 50% a year up to 100% but does not take it back after a claim. Care Supreme also comes in far more cover sizes.

The two insurers' records point in different directions. Care Health settles 96.0% of claims against Niva Bupa's 93.3%, but draws 42.9 complaints per 10,000 claims against Niva Bupa's 35.4 (IRDAI data, weighted average of the last three financial years, latest available as of March 2026).

Premiums depend on your age, city and cover, so this page compares what each plan pays for rather than a price. A quote for both plans on the same cover is the only fair way to compare cost.

Where is Care Supreme the better choice?

Care Supreme suits a buyer who wants a precise cover size, a bonus that a claim cannot touch, and unlimited restoration within each policy year. It also lets up to six people each hold their own sum insured on one policy, grandparents included.

  • More cover sizes. Care Supreme is sold at ten sum insured tiers from ₹5 lakh to ₹6 crore. ReAssure 3.0 Black offers three.
  • A bonus that survives a claim. The policy wording states that Care Supreme's 50% yearly bonus is unaffected by a claim. ReAssure's Booster+ adds nothing in a year with a claim.
  • Restoration that switches on when cover runs out. Care Supreme refills the base sum insured without limit inside a policy year, for the same illness as well as a different one, once the base cover and bonus are used up. ReAssure Forever stays dormant until the insurer has paid your first claim.
  • A wider family list. Care Supreme covers self, spouse or partner, children, parents, parents-in-law and grandparents.

Where does ReAssure 3.0 pull ahead?

ReAssure 3.0 Black suits a buyer who wants cover to grow quickly, wants an Unlimited sum insured, or has children who will stay dependent past 24. The age used to price its premium can also stay at your entry age until a claim is paid.

  • Faster growth. Booster+ adds 100% of base cover in every claim-free year up to 1000%. On ₹10 lakh that is up to ₹1 crore of Booster+ on top of the base cover. Care Supreme's base bonus stops at 100%; its paid Cumulative Bonus Super reaches 500%, but everything accrued under it is forfeited if you drop the add-on.
  • An Unlimited sum insured option.
  • Children covered to 30, against 24 on Care Supreme.
  • Lock the Clock. Your premium is worked out at the age you bought at until a claim is paid, on the Elite and Black variants only; other renewal price changes can still apply.
  • Longer hospitalisation windows if you want them. Pre-hospitalisation can be moved to 90 or 180 days and post-hospitalisation to 270 or 365 days, for extra premium.

What should you check before buying either plan?

On both plans the weak points sit in the optional covers, so read what your quote has switched on. Several options are sold as premium savings and quietly reduce cover.

Care Supreme

  • Consumables such as gloves, syringes and PPE are not covered unless you buy Claim Shield, which pays the 68 listed non-payable items.
  • Instant Cover does not mean day-one cover for diabetes or blood pressure. It waives the pre-existing wait, but cover starts on day 31.
  • Smart Select adds a 20% co-payment at hospitals outside its list, and True Connect adds 10% if you go to hospital without first consulting the insurer's panel doctors, except in an emergency.
  • There is no maternity benefit and no add-on for one.

ReAssure 3.0 Black

  • The insurer can attach a personal waiting period to conditions it names on your schedule at underwriting, so read the schedule, not just the brochure.
  • The Specific Disease option can lengthen the 24-month wait to 36 months, and HeadsUp and Tiered Network each add a 20% co-payment outside a named list.
  • The annual health check-up and consumables cover are paid options.
  • ReAssure Forever does not apply at all on the Unlimited sum insured option.

Which plan should you choose?

Choose Care Supreme if you want a specific cover size such as ₹15 lakh or ₹25 lakh, want a bonus that a claim does not reduce, or want individual covers for several family members on one policy.

Choose ReAssure 3.0 Black if you want the highest bonus ceiling and expect claim-free years, want an Unlimited sum insured, or have children who will stay on your policy past 24.

Neither plan covers maternity. A couple planning a child should read our maternity cover guide before choosing either.

FAQs

Does Care Supreme or ReAssure 3.0 have a room rent limit?

No. Care Supreme pays room rent and ICU up to the sum insured, and ReAssure 3.0 Black has no room type capping. A cap appears on Care Supreme only if you choose Room Rent Modification to cut the premium, and on ReAssure 3.0 it is the Classic, Select and Elite variants, not Black, that add a co-payment for higher room categories.

Which plan grows the sum insured faster?

ReAssure 3.0 Black. Booster+ adds 100% of your base sum insured each year up to 1000%, so a ₹10 lakh policy can build ₹1 crore of Booster+. Care Supreme's base bonus adds 50% a year and stops at 100%. The trade-off is that Care Supreme's bonus is not reduced by a claim, while ReAssure adds nothing in a year you claim.

Do Care Supreme or ReAssure 3.0 cover maternity?

No. Care Supreme has no maternity benefit and no add-on that puts one in, and ReAssure 3.0 permanently excludes childbirth, IVF, surrogacy and infertility treatment.

Which insurer has the better claim record?

Care Health settles more claims, 96.0% against Niva Bupa's 93.3%, but receives more complaints, 42.9 against 35.4 per 10,000 claims (IRDAI data, weighted average of the last three financial years, latest available as of March 2026).

Can I switch from one plan to the other later?

You can apply to port at renewal. The new insurer underwrites the application, and waiting periods you have already served are credited under portability rules. Our portability guide explains the steps.
