Top 8 Health Insurance Plans With Bonus Benefits 2026: Is Your Bonus Guaranteed?

6 min 38 sec · 14 October 2026 · nyvo

Which health insurance plans with bonus benefits grow your cover the most, and is your bonus still there after you make a claim? The video compares 8 plans from 5 insurers, from 2X cover on day one to bonuses of up to 10X that can take a ₹10 lakh policy to ₹1.1 crore. Kshitij Jain, founder of nyvo, walks through the bonus on each plan: HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Plus (Secure Benefit and Infinite Benefit), Care Supreme (the in-built cumulative bonus plus the Cumulative Bonus Super and Cumulative Bonus Booster add-ons), Care Ultimate (Infinity Bonus), Aditya Birla Activ One Max and the new Activ Yuva, Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 and ReAssure 2.0 (Booster+), and ICICI Lombard Elevate (Power Booster). It explains what a guaranteed bonus is, why it keeps growing even in a year you claim, and why Niva Bupa's Booster+ is different: it only carries forward the cover you did not use.

What this video says

  • The video compares the bonus on 8 health plans from 5 insurers: HDFC ERGO, Care, Aditya Birla, Niva Bupa and ICICI Lombard.
  • HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Plus: the Secure Benefit doubles cover from day one and the Infinite Benefit adds the base cover at every renewal with no cap, so ₹10 lakh becomes ₹20, ₹30, ₹40, ₹50 lakh and beyond.
  • The video says Care Supreme has a built-in 50% bonus for two years up to 100%, plus two bonus add-ons: one adds 100% a year up to 500% (taking ₹10 lakh to a cap of ₹70 lakh with the built-in bonus) and one adds 100% a year with no limit (nyvo's current data: the no-limit Cumulative Bonus Booster is sold as a separate Care Advanced add-on policy, not inside Care Supreme).
  • Care Ultimate has the same built-in 50% bonus up to 100% and an Infinity Bonus add-on of 100% a year with no cap, taking ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh, then ₹40 lakh, then ₹10 lakh more every year.
  • The video says Aditya Birla Activ One Max adds 100% a year capped at 500% (₹60 lakh after 5 years on ₹10 lakh; nyvo's current data: the cap is 500% of the base or ₹3 crore, whichever comes first), and that the new Activ Yuva adds up to 1,000%, taking ₹10 lakh to ₹1.1 crore in 10 years (nyvo's current data: nyvo has no record of Activ Yuva, so its figures are unverified).
  • A guaranteed bonus keeps growing even in a year you claim, and the video says the HDFC ERGO, Care and Aditya Birla plans it covers all have one (nyvo's current data: confirmed for Optima Secure Plus, Care Supreme, Care Ultimate's bonus options and Activ One Max; Activ Yuva is not on record).
  • The video says Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 (unlimited cover or ₹10 lakh) gives up to 10X bonus but its Booster+ is not guaranteed: it carries forward only the base cover you did not use, so a ₹5 lakh claim on ₹10 lakh adds only ₹5 lakh; on ReAssure 2.0 the cap depends on the variant, 10X on Titanium and 5X or 3X on lower variants (nyvo's current data: ReAssure 3.0 Black is also sold at ₹5 lakh; for ReAssure 2.0 nyvo records only Titanium+, where Booster+ is built in and capped at 10 times the base).
  • ICICI Lombard Elevate's Power Booster add-on adds 100% of the base cover at every renewal with no cap, and it is guaranteed.

0:02What I mean by guaranteed bonuses that even if you claim in a year, next year you will get the bonus. Your base will be restored and your previous bonuses will also be restored. Hi everyone. Today, we will talk about some of the best bonuses that are available in different health insurance plan.

0:15We will go through overall eight plans across five top companies including HDFC, Aditya Birla, Niva Bupa, Care and ICICI.

0:25Let me start with first plan that is HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Plus. There are two type of bonuses in HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Plus. One is secure benefit which gives you 2x cover from day one and another is infinite benefit which provides you additional base sum insured every year on renewal till infinity.

0:42So, let me explain by example. Let's say if you buy a policy of 10 lakh, secure benefit will give you additional 10 lakh from day one. So, your cover becomes 20 lakh and with infinite benefit on every year of renewal, you get additional 10 lakh every year. So, your cover on first renewal becomes 30, then 40, then 50 and so on.

1:04And this will grow without any cap. So, you know if you buy this plan, you will definitely beat inflation and your plan will keep on growing.

1:11Now, coming to second company that is Care. There are two plans in Care, Care Supreme and Care Ultimate. Let me talk about Care Supreme. This has again two type of bonuses. One is inbuilt which provides 50% of bonus for two years up to 100%. say you take a 10 lakh plan, you will get 5 lakh bonus on first renewal and 5 lakh bonus on second renewal making your cover 20 lakh.

1:34Now, there are two types of add-on that you can take in this policy, cumulative bonus booster and cumulative bonus super. Now, one of this bonuses provide 100% bonus on every renewal till 500% and another of this bonus provide 100% bonus on renewal till infinity. Obviously, the second one is expensive.

1:56So, in Care if you take this add-on, as well as considering the default bonus, and you take a 10 lakhs of cover, next year your coverage will increase by 15 lakh, 5 lakhs from default bonus, and 10 lakhs from cumulative bonus add-on. And again next year 15 lakhs, and then the increase will be 10 lakhs 10 lakhs.

2:13So, if you take the bonus up to 500%, your cover of 10 lakhs will become 25 lakhs, 40 lakhs, and 50, 60, and capped at 70 lakhs.

2:24Now, if we talk about second plan of Care, which was launched after Care Supreme, that is Care Ultimate. Care Ultimate also have 50% of inbuilt default bonus for 2 years, which will take it to up to 100%, and the add-on only is available is infinity bonus. So, with infinity bonus, your cover will grow every year by base sum insured on renewal.

2:47Similar to what I explained before in Asia. So, let's say you take Care Ultimate 10 lakhs plan. In the first year of renewal, you will get 5 lakhs of default bonus, and 10 lakhs of infinity bonus, making your cover again 25 lakhs. In the second year, you will get 5 lakhs of default bonus, 10 lakhs of infinity bonus, making your cover 40 lakhs.

3:06After that, infinity bonus will keep on working without any cap. So, you will every year on renewal, you will get additional 10 lakhs. This plan is also great to beat your medical inflation and keep your coverage growing.

3:18Now, talking about Aditya Birla. Here we will talk about two plan. One is ABHI Activ One Max, and the recently launched Activ Yuva Plan. In Activ One Max, again, there is bonus of 100% on renewal, but it is capped at 500%.

3:33So, if you take 10 lakhs of policy, you will get 10 lakhs next year, 10 lakhs after that, capped at 500%. So, after 5 years, your cover will be 60 lakhs.

3:44In Activ Yuva Plan, they have changed this and make your cover up to 11x. So, they will give you 1,000% bonus and your original base sum insured. So, if you take 10 lakhs of policy, it will grow up to 1.1 CR. 10 lakhs of base sum insured and 100% bonus every year for next 10 years.

4:02So, your cover will become 1.1 CR.

4:04Now, one thing to add about all the plans I've talked about, these provide guaranteed bonuses. What I mean by guaranteed bonuses? That even if you claim in a year, next year you will get the bonus, your base will be restored, and your previous bonuses will also be restored. So, let me take an example.

4:21Let's say you have bought a 10 lakhs policy. You had 40 lakhs of bonus. You consumed that 50 lakhs this year. So, ideally, you have zero left. Next year, when you renew, all that 40 lakhs will be restored and additional 10 lakhs guaranteed bonus you will get, making your coverage 50 lakhs at the start of next year.

4:37Keep in mind, the plans I've talked about among HDFC, Care, Aditya Birla have guaranteed bonus.

4:43Now, coming to Niva Bupa, they launched their ReAssure 3.0 with unlimited cover or 10 lakhs of sum insured. In unlimited cover, as you know, you don't need any bonus, you don't need any restoration. But, if we talk about their 10 lakhs plan, it provides up to 10x of bonus, similar to Aditya Birla Activ Yuva.

5:00Your cover of 10 lakhs today will grow up to 1.1 CR in 10 years. Now, here is a different scenario where Niva Bupa doesn't offer guaranteed bonus. Their Booster+ plan will just provide bonus, which is not utilized from base sum insured last year. So, if you have 10 lakhs of base sum insured, you did a claim of 5 lakhs, instead of complete 10 lakhs of bonus, you will get only 5 lakhs of bonus next year.

5:25Similarly, Niva Bupa ReAssure 2.0 has Booster+ add-on, and it is capped at different levels for different plans. If you take Titanium, it is capped at 10x. If you go for lower plans, it may be capped at 5x or 3x. So, choose your plan carefully in terms of bonuses.

5:39Now, coming last to ICICI, ICICI Lombard Elevate plan again has an add-on of power booster which provide you infinite bonus. It will work in similar way as I talked about HDFC or Care Ultimate. There if you take 10 lakhs of policy, the 10 lakhs bonus will keep on adding on renewals and your cover will become 20, 30, 40, 50 and so on.

6:02Here again, it is a guaranteed bonus. So you don't need to worry that if you claim today, will your sum insured will be lower on renewal next year.

6:12So these are the top plans with top bonuses that I have mentioned today. Considering all the medical inflation that is there today, it is great to have a good bonus in your plan so that your plan keeps on growing. You don't need to worry about extensive medical bills.
