Activ One MAX or ReAssure 3.0: which should you buy?

Aditya Birla Activ One MAX and Niva Bupa ReAssure 3.0 Black both pay room rent at actuals, carry no disease sub-limits and add a large yearly bonus. Activ One MAX includes consumables cover and a yearly health check-up, and keeps growing its bonus after a claim. ReAssure 3.0 can grow further, to 1000% of base cover, and offers an Unlimited sum insured.

Aditya Birla Health settles 96.5% of claims and draws 18.2 complaints per 10,000 claims, against Niva Bupa's 93.3% and 35.4 (IRDAI data, weighted average of the last three financial years, latest available as of March 2026).

Premiums depend on your age, city and cover, so this page compares what each plan pays for rather than a price. A quote for both plans on the same cover is the only fair way to compare cost.

Where is Activ One MAX the better choice?

Activ One MAX suits a buyer who wants the extras built in rather than bought, and a bonus that keeps growing after a claim. It also comes from the insurer with the stronger claim record of the two.

  • Consumables and a health check-up included. Claim Protect pays the non-payable items across all four annexure lists on an admissible claim, and a cashless check-up is built in every policy year. On ReAssure 3.0 Black both cost extra.
  • A bonus that does not pause. Super Credit adds 100% of base cover every year regardless of claims, up to 500% of base or ₹3 crore. ReAssure's Booster+ adds nothing in a year you claim.
  • Longer pre-hospitalisation. 90 days before admission, against 60 on ReAssure's base plan.
  • More cover sizes, from ₹2 lakh to ₹6 crore.
  • Day-one in-patient cover for chronic conditions, as an add-on. Chronic Care waives the pre-existing and initial waits for seven named conditions, including diabetes, hypertension and asthma.
  • HealthReturns, an activity-linked reward worth up to 100% of premium, spendable on OPD costs or a fitness tracker rather than given as a discount.

Where does ReAssure 3.0 pull ahead?

ReAssure 3.0 Black suits a buyer who expects few claims and wants the largest cover over time, or wants an Unlimited sum insured.

  • A higher bonus ceiling. Booster+ can reach 1000% of base cover, against 500% or ₹3 crore on Activ One MAX. On ₹10 lakh that is up to ₹1 crore of Booster+.
  • An Unlimited sum insured option.
  • Children covered to 30, against 25 on an Activ One floater.
  • Lock the Clock. Your premium is worked out at your entry age until a claim is paid, on the Elite and Black variants only; other renewal price changes can still apply.
  • Worldwide treatment as an option. The Borderless add-on covers treatment anywhere in the world, up to ₹10 lakh on the ₹5 and ₹10 lakh options and up to ₹5 crore on Unlimited.

What should you check before buying either plan?

Activ One MAX

  • Super Reload does not apply to the very first claim in the life of the policy.
  • If a quote includes the per-claim deductible, it applies to every claim: a ₹25,000 deductible across three admissions is ₹75,000 from your own pocket.
  • Day-one cover for chronic conditions is a paid add-on on MAX. It is built into the VYTL variant, so price both if you have diabetes or hypertension.
  • There is no maternity cover or maternity option anywhere in the Activ One range.

ReAssure 3.0 Black

  • The insurer can attach a personal waiting period to conditions it names on your schedule at underwriting, so read the schedule, not just the brochure.
  • Some options reduce cover: the Specific Disease option can lengthen the 24-month wait to 36 months, and HeadsUp and Tiered Network each add a 20% co-payment outside a named list.
  • Consumables and the annual health check-up are paid options.
  • ReAssure Forever does not apply on the Unlimited sum insured option.

Which plan should you choose?

Choose Activ One MAX if you want consumables and a health check-up included, expect to claim and want the bonus to keep growing anyway, or live with a chronic condition and want the Chronic Care option.

Choose ReAssure 3.0 Black if you want the higher bonus ceiling and expect claim-free years, want an Unlimited sum insured, or want the option of treatment abroad.

FAQs

Which plan pays for consumables?

Activ One MAX, as standard. Its Claim Protect benefit pays the non-payable items across all four lists of the policy annexure on any admissible claim. ReAssure 3.0 Black covers consumables only if you buy Claim Safeguard+.

Does a claim stop the bonus from growing?

On Activ One MAX, no: Super Credit adds 100% of base cover each year irrespective of claims, up to 500% of base or ₹3 crore. On ReAssure 3.0 Black, yes for that year: Booster+ adds nothing in a year you claim, though it can build to 1000% over claim-free years.

Which plan is better if I have diabetes or high blood pressure?

Activ One MAX with the Chronic Care add-on waives both the pre-existing and the initial waiting periods for seven named conditions, including diabetes and hypertension. ReAssure 3.0 Black lets you cut the 36-month pre-existing wait to 24 or 12 months, but only when you buy. On either plan, declare every condition when you apply.

Can either plan pay for treatment abroad?

ReAssure 3.0 Black can, through the paid Borderless add-on. Activ One MAX cannot: global cover sits on the VIP and VIP+ variants of Activ One.

Do Activ One MAX or ReAssure 3.0 cover maternity?

No. There is no maternity cover or option in the Activ One range, and ReAssure 3.0 permanently excludes childbirth, IVF, surrogacy and infertility treatment.
