What does a creatinine test cost in India?

₹140

That is the cheapest of the three national labs we checked, Redcliffe Labs, for a serum creatinine test in Bangalore, read July 2026. The dearest, Orange Health, is ₹200. It is one of the cheapest blood tests there is, so the range is narrow.

The three labs, as listed

LabPrice (Bangalore)
Redcliffe Labs₹140
Healthians₹190
Orange Health Labs₹200

Three labs, one city, one week, and just ₹60 between them. Creatinine is a single, standard parameter every lab runs in volume, so prices sit close together. The small premium buys faster home collection, not a different test. Prices differ by city and move over time.

Before you pay it

Most health insurance policies include an annual health check-up, and a creatinine test is usually part of it, sitting inside the kidney panel. It is a named benefit in the wording, usually delivered cashless at a listed diagnostic centre, and it is one of the least-claimed benefits in Indian health insurance.

Check your policy schedule before you pay a lab. Our guide to which plans pay for your check-up sets out the terms plan by plan, and the kidney function test cost page covers the wider panel a creatinine test usually sits inside.

Two things worth knowing

Creatinine alone is rarely the whole picture. It is the core reading of kidney function, but a kidney function test (KFT) adds urea, uric acid and electrolytes for often only a little more, giving a fuller view. If your doctor wants to assess kidney function properly, the panel is usually the better buy; if only a creatinine is asked for, the standalone price above applies. Whether you need the test is a decision for your doctor.

The tax break is smaller than it sounds. Section 80D allows ₹5,000 a year for preventive health check-ups, and it sits inside your overall 80D limit rather than on top of it. If you are already claiming the full limit on premiums, the check-up adds nothing. The mechanics are in our guide to Section 80D deductions.

FAQs

How much does a creatinine test cost in India?

Between ₹140 and ₹200 across Redcliffe, Healthians and Orange Health, read in Bangalore in July 2026. It is one of the cheapest blood tests, so the range is narrow. Prices differ by lab and city and change often.

Is a creatinine test covered by health insurance?

Usually, as part of the annual health check-up or the diagnostic workup around a hospital stay, rather than as a standalone claim. Most health policies include a periodic check-up delivered cashless at a listed diagnostic centre. It does not reduce your sum insured. Check your own policy schedule.

What does a creatinine test measure?

It measures serum creatinine, a waste product filtered by the kidneys, which is the main blood marker of kidney function. It is a single parameter from one sample and the core reading inside a kidney panel. What the result means, and whether you need the test, are questions for your doctor.

Can I claim a creatinine test under 80D?

Up to ₹5,000 a year for preventive health check-ups, which can be paid in cash. The catch is that this ₹5,000 sits within your overall Section 80D limit rather than being added to it, so it only helps if you are under the limit already.

Do I need to fast before a creatinine test?

Not usually. A serum creatinine test does not generally require fasting, though if it is part of a wider panel with a lipid profile or fasting sugar, follow the fasting instruction for those. Your lab will tell you when you book.
