Key takeaways
A complete blood count (CBC) test costs between ₹349 and ₹480 across Redcliffe, Healthians and Orange Health, read in Bangalore in July 2026. It is one of the cheapest and most common blood tests.
Before paying, check your policy. Most health insurance plans include an annual health check-up, and a CBC is almost always part of it.
A CBC is a single sample measuring 20-plus parameters, red cells, white cells, platelets and haemoglobin, and needs no fasting.
Section 80D allows ₹5,000 a year for preventive health check-ups, but it sits inside your existing 80D limit rather than on top of it.

What does a CBC test cost in India?

₹349

That is the cheapest of the three national labs we checked, Redcliffe Labs, for a complete blood count in Bangalore, read July 2026. The dearest, Orange Health, is ₹480. A CBC is among the cheapest blood tests there is, so the whole range is small.

A complete blood count measures your red cells, white cells, platelets and haemoglobin from a single sample, usually 20 or more parameters, and needs no fasting.

The three labs, as listed

LabPrice (Bangalore)
Redcliffe Labs₹349
Healthians₹353
Orange Health Labs₹480

Three labs, one city, one week. Redcliffe and Healthians sit within ₹4 of each other; Orange Health charges more for its 60-minute home collection. The test itself is identical, a standard hemogram every lab runs in volume. Prices differ by city and move over time, so treat these as the order of magnitude.

Before you pay it

Most health insurance policies include an annual health check-up, and a CBC is almost always part of it, often bundled into the same panel as a lipid profile and blood sugar. It is a named benefit in the wording, usually delivered cashless at a listed diagnostic centre, and it is one of the least-claimed benefits in Indian health insurance.

Check your policy schedule before you pay a lab. Our guide to which plans pay for your check-up sets out the terms plan by plan, and the full body checkup cost page covers the packages a CBC usually sits inside.

Two things worth knowing

A CBC is rarely worth paying for alone. Because it is cheap and standard, it is almost always included in a full body package that costs only a little more and adds a lipid profile, blood sugar and liver and kidney panels. If your doctor has asked only for a CBC, the standalone price above applies; if you want a broad screen, the package is usually better value.

The tax break is smaller than it sounds. Section 80D allows ₹5,000 a year for preventive health check-ups, and it sits inside your overall 80D limit rather than on top of it. If you are already claiming the full limit on premiums, the check-up adds nothing. The mechanics are in our guide to Section 80D deductions.

FAQs

How much does a CBC test cost in India?

Between ₹349 and ₹480 across Redcliffe, Healthians and Orange Health, read in Bangalore in July 2026. A CBC is one of the cheapest blood tests, so the range is narrow. Prices differ by lab and city and change often.

Is a CBC test covered by health insurance?

Almost always, as part of the annual health check-up rather than as a claim. Most health policies include a periodic check-up delivered cashless at a listed diagnostic centre, and a CBC is a standard inclusion. It does not reduce your sum insured. Check your own policy schedule for the frequency.

What does a CBC test measure?

A complete blood count measures red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, haemoglobin and haematocrit, usually 20 to 29 parameters from one blood sample. It is a broad first-line screen. What the results mean, and whether you need the test, are questions for your doctor.

Can I claim a CBC test under 80D?

Up to ₹5,000 a year for preventive health check-ups, which can be paid in cash. The catch is that this ₹5,000 sits within your overall Section 80D limit rather than being added to it, so it only helps if you are under the limit already.

Do I need to fast before a CBC test?

No. A complete blood count does not require fasting and can be done at any time of day. If it is bundled with a lipid profile or blood sugar test, follow the fasting instruction for those.
