Is Vibe worth buying?
Worth a look if you are 35 or under, have nothing to declare, and will use the app. Flex (₹25 lakh) and GOAT (₹50 lakh or ₹1 crore) are the strong plans: a single private room, 90 and 180 days around an admission, ReVibe refills with no limit on how often (within a yearly total capped at the sum insured), and a Green Flag Bonus of 50% a year up to 300%, claim or no claim. The lower plans grow at 20% a year to 100%, Rookie has a twin-sharing room and one refill a year, pre-existing conditions wait 36 months with no add-on to shorten it, and ICICI Lombard settles 87.6% of health claims (IRDAI data, three-year weighted average, latest as of March 2026), below our 93% bar.
A good fit if
- You are 35 or under, with no condition to declare, and want cover that grows fast: a ₹25 lakh Flex policy carries ₹1 crore of total cover by its seventh year
- You will use the extras: unlimited teleconsultations, a network gym membership, 3 to 10 counselling sessions a year and monthly Aura Points for OPD visits and tests
- You do adventure sport for fun and want Thrill Shield's extra layer of cover, equal to the base sum insured, for 55 listed activities
Look elsewhere if
- You are 36 or older: entry closes at 35
- You already have a condition to declare: it waits 36 months and no Vibe add-on shortens that
- You want the cheapest plan to be a full one: Rookie's twin-sharing room, shorter pre and post windows and single refill make it a thinner product
- The insurer's claim record matters more to you than the plan's features

What Vibe covers
These are the terms that decide what you are actually paid when you claim. Room rent, co-pay and restoration do more to shape a settlement than the sum insured does, and they are read from ICICI Lombard's own policy wording.

| Feature | This plan | What good looks like |
|---|---|---|
| What kind of plan this is | Indemnity health insurance: it pays hospital bills up to the sum insured. The Personal Accident add-on is the one part that pays a fixed lump sum instead | Read this first |
| Co-payment | None as a standing rule, and the wording says no zone-based co-payment applies. The one co-payment comes with an option you choose: Network Advantage takes 10% off the premium and puts a 20% co-payment on every claim at a non-network hospital | No Co-payment |
| Room Rent Limit | Set by the plan. Rookie entitles you to a twin-sharing AC room; BasicFit, Upgrade, Flex and GOAT to a single private AC room. Take a higher category and the associated medical expenses are paid in proportion, though ICU charges are not cut. The Room Modifier add-on, sold on BasicFit and above, lifts the limit to any room | No room rent capping |
| Disease sub-limit | None on hospital treatment. The Customer Information Sheet names the room category as the only limit on in-patient cover; caps sit inside the add-ons, such as maternity and the health check-up | No sub-limit |
| Green Flag Bonus | Added at the close of each policy year, claim or no claim, and never cut back after a claim: 20% of the base cover a year up to 100% on Rookie, BasicFit and Upgrade; 50% a year up to 300% on Flex and GOAT. A ₹25 lakh Flex policy carries ₹1 crore of total cover in its seventh year. The bonus is used only once the base cover has run out | 50% a year, to 100% or more |
| ReVibe (restoration) | Refills up to 100% of the base cover when earlier claims that year have used up the cover and the bonus. Any number of times a year on BasicFit, Upgrade, Flex and GOAT; once a year on Rookie. It never applies to the first claim of the year, any one claim can draw at most 100% of the base from it, the wording caps the total ReVibe paid in a policy year at that year's sum insured, and an unused refill does not carry over | 100% restoration at least once a year |
| Pre-Hospitalization | 90 days on BasicFit, Upgrade, Flex and GOAT; 60 days on Rookie | At least 60 days |
| Post-Hospitalization | 180 days on BasicFit, Upgrade, Flex and GOAT; 90 days on Rookie | At least 120 days |
| Minimum hospitalisation | 24 consecutive hours, except for day care treatment. The 2-Hour QuickFix add-on brings it down to 2 hours, though AYUSH treatment still needs 24 | 24 hours is the usual minimum |
| Consumables | Not in the base cover: the items on IRDAI's List I of non-payables are deducted unless you buy Claim Protector, which pays them up to the sum insured on an accepted admission or day care claim | Consumables covered |
| Day Care Treatment | Covered up to the sum insured | Covered without a capped list |
| Modern treatments | The 12 listed treatments, among them robotic surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery, oral chemotherapy, immunotherapy by monoclonal antibody injection and intravitreal injections, up to the sum insured | Covered up to the sum insured |
| AYUSH Treatment | In-patient treatment at a government-recognised AYUSH hospital or AYUSH day care centre, up to the sum insured | Included |
| Ambulance | Road ambulance within India, up to the sum insured, paid by reimbursement only and only when the admission claim is accepted. The wording has no air ambulance cover | Included |
| Teleconsultation | Unlimited, 24 hours a day, through the IL TakeCare app only | Included |
| GetFit (gym membership) | A gym membership and classes such as aerobics, Pilates, calisthenics, yoga and Zumba at network centres, for insured adults, once you register on the IL TakeCare app and record 5,000 steps on it. Gym access starts after 30 days and depends on a network centre near you | Wellness benefit available |
| Aura Points | 500 points for each claim-free month on Rookie, BasicFit and Upgrade, 750 on Flex and GOAT. A claim stops them for the rest of that policy year. They are spent cashless through the app on OPD consultations, diagnostics, pharmacy, dental and vision (up to 3,000 points a year each) and sports club access, with at most 12,000 held at a time | Wellness reward available |
| Mind & Mood Recover (counselling) | From day one, up to ₹1,000 a session: 3 sessions a year on Rookie, 5 on BasicFit, 6 on Upgrade, 8 on Flex and 10 on GOAT. Cashless through network counsellors, or by video where there is none | Included |
| Annual Health Check-up | Not built in. It is an optional cover: once a policy year for each adult, cashless, worth up to 0.5% of the sum insured or ₹5,000, whichever is lower, which is ₹3,500 on Rookie's ₹7 lakh | Included |
| Entry age | Up to 35, then renewable for life. The prospectus allows an individual policy from age 6, and children from 91 days on a floater | No maximum entry age |
Which variant should you take?
This plan is sold in more than one form, and the choice is made once at purchase. Picking the wrong one is not something you can quietly correct later, so it is worth a minute now.
The entry plan, and the thinnest. A twin-sharing AC room, 60 days before and 90 days after an admission, one ReVibe refill a year, a Green Flag Bonus of 20% a year to 100%, 500 Aura Points a claim-free month and 3 counselling sessions a year. Room Modifier and Spouse Care are not sold on it, and maternity, if added, pays up to ₹50,000.
A single private AC room, 90 days before and 180 days after an admission, and ReVibe refills with no limit on how often, within a yearly total capped at the sum insured. The bonus is still 20% a year to 100%, with 500 Aura Points a claim-free month and 5 counselling sessions. Room Modifier can be added; Spouse Care cannot. Maternity, if added, pays up to ₹50,000.
BasicFit's cover on a larger sum insured, with 6 counselling sessions a year, and the first plan on which Spouse Care can be bought, at inception, to carry your waiting periods and bonus over to a spouse you add later. Bonus 20% a year to 100%, 500 Aura Points, maternity up to ₹50,000.
The first plan with the faster bonus: 50% of the cover a year, up to 300%, so ₹25 lakh becomes ₹1 crore of total cover by the seventh year. 750 Aura Points a claim-free month, 8 counselling sessions, maternity up to ₹1 lakh, and Room Modifier and Spouse Care both available.
Flex's terms on the largest covers, with 10 counselling sessions a year. At the 50% a year bonus, a ₹50 lakh policy reaches ₹2 crore of total cover by its seventh year, and a ₹1 crore policy ₹4 crore.
Vibe add-ons you can buy with it
Each of these costs extra and each has its own conditions. Some are genuinely worth it; several exist to patch a gap in the base plan. Ask what each one adds before it goes on your quote.
Vibe discounts you can ask for
Published discounts on this plan. Most are applied at quote stage rather than offered, so it is worth naming the ones you qualify for. Every figure is a ceiling, not a promise: what you actually get depends on the case.
Swipe the table sideways to see every column.
| Discount | Worth | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Tenure discount | Up to 15% | A 2-year policy gets 10% off its second year's premium; a 3, 4 or 5-year policy gets 15% off its last year's premium. |
| Zone discount | Up to 15% | Zone B pays 10% less than the Zone A premium and Zone C 15% less; Zone D, the rest of NCR, carries a 12.5% loading. The wording says no zone-based co-payment applies. |
| Network Advantage | 10% | 10% off every renewal premium, the first year's included, for using network hospitals. The catch is a 20% co-payment on every claim at a non-network hospital. |
| Voluntary Deductible | Varies | You pay the first ₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh of each year's claims, as chosen, in exchange for a lower premium. It cannot be combined with Smart Returns. |
From the Vibe prospectus (Discounts/Loading Factors) and policy wording. ICICI Lombard can also load the premium by up to 200% of the base premium on health grounds at the first policy, and that loading carries into renewals.
Vibe waiting periods: when each part of the cover starts
Waiting periods run from the day cover began, not from the day you fall ill, and they run in parallel rather than one after another.
| Initial Waiting Period | 30 days for any illness; an accident is covered from day one |
|---|---|
| Hypertension, diabetes and cardiac conditions | 90 days from the start of the first policy, unless the condition is pre-existing and was disclosed at underwriting |
| Specific Illness | 24 months of continuous cover; no add-on shortens it |
| Pre-Existing Disease | 36 months of continuous cover; no add-on shortens it |
| Maternity and newborn add-ons | 24 months, or 12 months with the reduction option chosen at inception |
| GetFit gym membership | 30 days |
The named illnesses that wait 24 months
Taken from the Vibe policy wording, exclusion Excl02. These wait 24 months of continuous cover from your first policy with ICICI Lombard. Accidents are exempt, and if a condition is also pre-existing the longer of the two waits applies. No Vibe add-on shortens it. Indicative list: the wording carries the full set.
Vibe exclusions: what the plan will not pay for
Every policy carries exclusions, and they are the clauses people read for the first time at claim stage. These are the ones worth knowing before you buy.
Where Vibe falls short
No plan is right for everyone, and a page that only lists strengths is not much use to you. These are the gaps we would raise on a call before recommending it.
Vibe questions, answered
What is ICICI Lombard Vibe?
It is an indemnity health plan for young buyers, filed under UIN ICIHLIP27061V012627 and on sale from 29 September 2026 according to ICICI Lombard's product list. It pays hospital bills up to the sum insured and adds wellness extras: unlimited teleconsultations, a gym membership, counselling sessions and monthly Aura Points for claim-free months. Entry closes at 35 and renewal is lifelong.
Who can buy ICICI Lombard Vibe?
Anyone up to 35, according to the Vibe prospectus, after which it is renewable for life. The prospectus allows an individual policy from age 6 and children from 91 days on a family floater, which can include a spouse, dependent children, brothers and sisters, while ICICI Lombard's own Vibe page pitches it at adults aged 18 to 35. It is sold only to residents of India.
What is the difference between Rookie, BasicFit, Upgrade, Flex and GOAT?
Each plan is tied to one cover on ICICI Lombard's Vibe page: Rookie ₹7 lakh, BasicFit ₹10 lakh, Upgrade ₹15 lakh, Flex ₹25 lakh, GOAT ₹50 lakh or ₹1 crore. Rookie has a twin-sharing room, shorter pre and post windows and one refill a year; BasicFit and Upgrade add a single private room and refills with no limit on how often; Flex and GOAT add the 50% a year bonus up to 300%, 750 Aura Points a month and maternity up to ₹1 lakh. Counselling runs from 3 sessions a year on Rookie to 10 on GOAT.
Does ICICI Lombard Vibe have an unlimited reset?
Unlimited in how often on BasicFit, Upgrade, Flex and GOAT, but not in amount: the wording caps the total ReVibe paid in a policy year at that year's sum insured. Rookie refills once a year. Each refill restores up to 100% of the base cover once earlier claims that year have used up the cover and the bonus, never on the year's first claim, and the wording rules it out for an illness, its complications, or a relapse or re-admission within 15 days, where a claim has already been paid that year for the same person.
How does the Green Flag Bonus work?
It adds a share of your base cover at the close of each policy year, claim or no claim, and a claim never takes it back. Rookie, BasicFit and Upgrade get 20% a year up to 100%; Flex and GOAT get 50% a year up to 300%, so a ₹25 lakh Flex policy carries ₹1 crore of total cover by its seventh year. The bonus is used only after the base cover runs out.
What are Aura Points in ICICI Lombard Vibe?
Points credited for each claim-free month: 500 on Rookie, BasicFit and Upgrade, 750 on Flex and GOAT, up to 12,000 held at once. They are spent cashless through the IL TakeCare app on OPD consultations, diagnostics, pharmacy, dental and vision (up to 3,000 points a year each) and sports clubs. ICICI Lombard's Vibe page values a point at ₹1, but the wording says points have no cash value, and a claim stops them for the rest of the policy year.
Does Vibe include a gym membership and counselling?
Yes. GetFit gives insured adults a network gym membership and classes such as yoga, Pilates and Zumba once they register on the IL TakeCare app and record 5,000 steps, with gym access after 30 days and only where a network centre exists. Mind & Mood Recover pays for counselling from day one, up to ₹1,000 a session, for 3 to 10 sessions a year depending on the plan.
What are the waiting periods in ICICI Lombard Vibe?
30 days for any illness other than an accident, 90 days for hypertension, diabetes and cardiac conditions unless pre-existing and disclosed, 24 months for the named specific illnesses and 36 months for pre-existing diseases. No Vibe add-on shortens the 24 or 36-month waits. The maternity and newborn add-ons wait 24 months, or 12 with the reduction option chosen at inception.
Does ICICI Lombard Vibe cover maternity?
Only as a paid add-on: up to ₹50,000 on Rookie, BasicFit and Upgrade, or ₹1 lakh on Flex and GOAT, after a 24-month wait, for up to three deliveries in a woman's lifetime. Newborn cover and first-year vaccinations up to ₹10,000 can be added alongside it. Pre-natal and post-natal costs count only when incurred as an in-patient, and the cover applies in India only.
What does the Thrill Shield add-on cover?
Accidental injuries from 55 listed adventure sports, such as trekking above 2,000 metres, scuba diving, paragliding and surfing, with extra cover equal to your base sum insured for the in-patient treatment. You must be taking part for recreation, not as a professional or in competition, and not under the influence of alcohol.
Is there a co-payment in ICICI Lombard Vibe?
No standing co-payment, and the wording says no zone-based one. A 20% co-payment applies to every claim at a non-network hospital only if you choose the Network Advantage discount. The Customer Information Sheet does mention a zone co-payment for treatment in a higher zone, which contradicts the wording, so get that confirmed in writing if you might be treated in a costlier city.
Is ICICI Lombard Vibe a good health insurance plan?
Its Flex and GOAT plans are strong on paper for a healthy buyer under 36: a single private room, refills with no limit on how often (within a yearly total capped at the sum insured) and a bonus that can add three times the base cover, claim or no claim. Rookie is much thinner, pre-existing conditions wait the full 36 months, and ICICI Lombard settles 87.6% of health claims (IRDAI data, three-year weighted average, latest as of March 2026), below our 93% bar.
