Paramount: how claims work, and what to do when they stall

Paramount Health Services & Insurance TPA Private Limited is a third-party administrator licensed by IRDAI under registration number 006, valid to 20 March 2026 (IRDAI, List of Third Party Administrators as on 18 February 2026). Holds IRDAI registration 006, among the longest-standing TPA registrations in India.

What Paramount decides, and what it does not

This is the single most useful thing to know, because it changes who you argue with. A TPA administers the claim: it issues the health card, receives the hospital’s pre-authorisation request, checks the documents against the policy and recommends an outcome. The insurer decides, and the insurer is the party your contract is with.

So when a claim is refused or cut down, escalating inside Paramount is usually the slow route. The accountable party is the insurer, and the regulatory escalation ladder runs through the insurer, not the TPA.

Finding your Paramount number and card

We deliberately do not publish a single Paramount helpline, because there is not one. A TPA runs a separate line and a separate claim desk for each insurer programme it administers, so a number that works for one policy reaches the wrong queue for another. Three reliable places, in order:

  1. Your health card or e-card. It carries the TPA name, your TPA ID and the number the hospital desk actually calls.
  2. Your policy schedule or welcome letter. Names the TPA and its claim-submission address.
  3. Your insurer’s helpline. Ask for the TPA and the TPA claim reference against your policy number. Our insurer claim guides carry the verified helpline for each insurer.

When a Paramount claim stalls: the escalation ladder

L1 – The insurer, not the TPA

Ask the insurer for the decision in writing with the policy clause it relies on. A TPA cannot give you a binding answer, and a verbal refusal is not a decision you can appeal.

L2 – The insurer's grievance cell

Must acknowledge within 3 working days and resolve within 15. Quote the claim number and attach the written refusal.

L3 – IRDAI Bima Bharosa

File at bimabharosa.irdai.gov.in if the insurer's response is unsatisfactory or does not arrive in 15 days.

L4 – Insurance Ombudsman

Within one year of the insurer's final reply. Decision within 90 days and binding on the insurer up to ₹30 lakh.

The full walkthrough, including what to write and the deadlines that bind the insurer, is in our IRDAI and Ombudsman guide.

Paramount questions, answered

What is Paramount in health insurance?

Paramount Health Services & Insurance TPA Private Limited is a third-party administrator licensed by IRDAI under registration 006, valid to 20 March 2026. A TPA does not sell you a policy and does not decide your claim. It administers claims on the insurer's behalf - issuing the health card, receiving pre-authorisation requests from hospitals, checking documents and recommending a decision. The insurer makes the final call.

How do I check my Paramount claim status?

Use the claim or intimation number, not the policy number, on Paramount's own portal or app. The number that reaches the right desk is printed on your health card, because a TPA runs a separate line for each insurer programme it administers. If the status has not moved and no query has been raised, that is the point to involve the insurer rather than to keep calling the TPA.

Paramount rejected my claim. Can I appeal?

A TPA recommends; the insurer decides and is the party accountable to you. Ask for the rejection in writing with the clause it relies on, then raise a grievance with the insurer's grievance cell, which must acknowledge within 3 working days and resolve within 15. If that fails, escalate to IRDAI's Bima Bharosa portal and then to the Insurance Ombudsman.

Is Paramount the same as my insurance company?

No, and the distinction matters when something goes wrong. Your contract is with the insurer. Paramount is a service provider the insurer appointed, and the insurer can change TPA at renewal without your policy changing. Complaints about a claim decision belong with the insurer, not the TPA.

Claim stuck with a TPA right now?

We read the wording, work out whether the refusal actually holds, and deal with the insurer on your behalf. That is the part a TPA will never do for you.
