Care Health Ultimate Care

Care Health's flagship plan, built around rewarding people who do not claim. The base cover carries a guaranteed 50% bonus a year, unlimited restoration and a 100% Loyalty Boost after seven claim-free years. A premium refund every fifth claim-free year and the uncapped Infinity Bonus are paid options, not part of the base plan.

What Ultimate Care covers

These are the terms that decide what you are actually paid when you claim. Room rent, co-pay and restoration do more to shape a settlement than the sum insured does, and they are read from Care Health's own policy wording.

03Add-ons

Ultimate Care add-ons you can buy with it

Each of these costs extra and each has its own conditions. Some are genuinely worth it; several exist to patch a gap in the base plan. Ask what each one adds before it goes on your quote.

Infinity Bonus
The uncapped version of the bonus, and a paid option rather than part of the base plan. It adds 100% of the base sum insured every year, without a ceiling and regardless of claims, on top of the base 50% bonus. Stop renewing the add-on and the whole balance built up under it is forfeited.
Premium Payback (MoneyBack)
Refunds your first-year base premium if you make no hospitalisation claim for five consecutive years, and repeats every five-year block as long as you keep renewing. Base premium means the premium excluding optional benefits and tax.
Instant Cover
Waives the pre-existing disease wait for diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, asthma, obesity, hypothyroidism and coronary artery disease with a PTCA over a year old. Cover starts on the 31st day, after the ordinary 30-day initial wait. First policy only, and not combinable with the PED wait period modification.
Claim Shield
Pays for the non-payable items listed in Annexure I, Lists I to IV – the consumables and incidentals a hospital bills separately – up to the sum insured.
Unlimited Automatic Recharge Booster
Brings restoration forward so it applies from your very first claim rather than the second. Without it, the first claim of the year has to be met from the sum insured and bonus alone.
Tenure Multiplier
On a multi-year policy, pools every year's sum insured into one pot for a single claim – a three-year ₹5 lakh policy gives you ₹15 lakh for that claim. Usable once in the whole policy period, and only if taken at inception.
Unlimited Care
Removes the sum insured limit entirely for one claim in the lifetime of the policy. Must be taken at inception and held for five straight years, and it ends permanently once used. India only.
Inflation Shield
Grows the sum insured at each renewal by the previous calendar year's CPI inflation, as published by the National Statistical Office. Stop the add-on and the accumulated increase lapses.
Maternity Cover
Delivery, pre-natal and post-natal expenses up to a chosen share of the sum insured, subject to its own waiting period, for insured people aged 18 to 45. Newborn Baby Cover, Newborn Vaccination and Newborn External Congenital Defects are separate options that only work if Maternity Cover is taken.
PED, Named Ailment and Initial Wait Period Modification
Three separate options that shorten the 36-month pre-existing wait, the 24-month named-ailment wait and the 30-day initial wait respectively. The PED option cuts the wait to one or two years and rules out Instant Cover.
Pre-Post Hospitalization Expenses Modification
Extends the base 60 days before and 90 days after admission to a longer period of your choosing.
Cover Pause
Suspends cover for up to 30 continuous days while every insured person is abroad, and extends the policy by the same number of days. Once a year, with 48 hours' notice and flight tickets.
Assisted Reproductive Treatment
Covers medically necessary fertility treatment for sub-fertility up to a specified amount, after its own waiting period, with both spouses continuously insured. Cryopreservation, surrogacy and second-pregnancy treatment are excluded.
Wellness Benefit
Up to 30% off the renewal premium for logging 10,000 steps a day, or 8,000 for insured people aged 60 and over. 270 qualifying days earns the full 30%, 120 days earns 10%.
Spouse Care
Lets you add a spouse mid-term within 180 days of marriage, passing on the bonus already accrued and the waiting periods already served. Has to be chosen at inception.
Smart Select
Cuts your premium in exchange for a shorter hospital list. Treat outside it, or treat inside it on reimbursement rather than cashless, and a 20% co-payment applies on top of any other co-pay.
Room Rent Modification
Trades the plan's uncapped room rent for a single private AC room, twin sharing, general ward or a ₹3,000 a day cap, in exchange for a lower premium. Go above your category and you carry a proportionate share of the whole associated bill, not just the room charge.

Ultimate Care discounts you can ask for

Published discounts on this plan. Most are applied at quote stage rather than offered, so it is worth naming the ones you qualify for. Every figure is a ceiling, not a promise - what you actually get depends on the case.

05Waiting periods

Ultimate Care waiting periods: when each part of the cover starts

Waiting periods run from the day cover began, not from the day you fall ill, and they run in parallel rather than one after another.

Initial Waiting Period30 days, shortenable by a paid option
Named Ailment24 months, shortenable by a paid option
Pre-Existing Disease36 months, or 1 to 2 years with the paid modification

The named illnesses that wait 24 months

These wait 24 months from the start of your first policy, whether the condition was pre-existing or picked up later. An accident is covered from day one. This list is indicative – the wording carries all 14 entries, and the wait can be shortened by a paid option.

Indicative listFrom the policy wording. Your own document governs.
01Cataract
02All types of hernia and hydrocele
03Kidney, ureteric or gall bladder stones, and lithotripsy
04Benign prostatic hypertrophy
05Non-infective arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, spinal disorders, joint replacement and knee ligament surgery
06Internal and skin tumours, cysts, nodules and polyps including breast lumps, unless malignant
07Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease or dementia
06Exclusions

Ultimate Care exclusions: what the plan will not pay for

Every policy carries exclusions, and they are the clauses people read for the first time at claim stage. These are the ones worth knowing before you buy.

Not coveredIndicative, not exhaustive. Your policy wording is the contract.
01An admission arranged mainly to run tests or investigations, where no treatment follows
02Rest cure, rehabilitation and respite care, including custodial help with everyday living
03Maternity, unless you buy the Maternity Cover option ectopic pregnancy is covered either way
04Sterility and infertility treatment, unless you buy the Assisted Reproductive Treatment option
05Cosmetic or plastic surgery, unless it reconstructs after an accident, burns or cancer, or removes an immediate health risk
06Treatment for alcoholism, drug or substance abuse and anything that follows from it
07Correcting eyesight where the refractive error is under 7.5 dioptres
08Treatment received at health hydros, nature cure clinics or spas
07The honest bit

Where Ultimate Care falls short

No plan is right for everyone, and a page that only lists strengths is not much use to you. These are the gaps we would raise on a call before recommending it.

Worth knowing before you buyNone of these are dealbreakers on their own. They are the trade-offs this plan asks you to accept.
01Almost every headline feature is an optional benefit. The premium refund, the uncapped Infinity Bonus, the wellness discount and the tenure multiplier all cost extra, and the brochure presents them together as though they came with the plan.
02The base bonus is 50% a year to a 100% ceiling, not 100% a year without a cap. The uncapped version is Infinity Bonus, and it is a paid add-on – stop paying for it and the entire balance built up under it is forfeited.
03Restoration only kicks in from the second claim of the year unless you buy the Recharge Booster. The first claim has to come out of your sum insured and bonus.
04Post-hospitalisation is 90 days, short of the 180 that Care Supreme gives you in its base plan and below our 120-day bar.
05Consumables are not covered without the paid Claim Shield benefit, and Care Health's complaint rate of 42.9 per 10,000 policies is more than twice the level we would normally accept.
08FAQs

Ultimate Care questions, answered

Is the 100% yearly bonus part of the base plan?

No. The base plan gives you a 50% Cumulative Bonus each year, capped at 100% of the sum insured. The 100%-a-year uncapped version is Infinity Bonus, an optional benefit with its own premium. It is worth being clear about because our own page used to count it twice, and it changes the compounding materially – the base bonus doubles your cover and then stops, while Infinity Bonus keeps going.

How does the MoneyBack premium refund actually work?

It is the Premium Payback optional benefit. Go five consecutive policy years without a hospitalisation claim and the insurer refunds your first policy year's base premium, provided you renew. It repeats in every subsequent five-year block. Base premium means the premium for the base plan alone – optional benefits and GST are not refunded, so the cheque is smaller than a year's outgoing.

What is Loyalty Boost, and is it a paid extra?

Loyalty Boost is in the base plan. After seven consecutive claim-free years the insurer adds a further 100% of your sum insured to the cover, once in the lifetime of the policy, with no fresh waiting period applied to that additional amount. If you increased your sum insured along the way, the calculation uses the original amount you started with, not the current one.

Does the unlimited restoration apply from my first claim?

Not by default. Unlimited Automatic Recharge is a base benefit and refills the sum insured without limit, for the same illness as well as a different one, but the wording states it applies from the second claim made in the policy year. The Unlimited Automatic Recharge Booster is a paid option that brings it forward to the first claim. If you are choosing between add-ons, this one is easy to overlook and expensive to miss.

Does Instant Cover mean my pre-existing conditions are covered from day one?

No. Instant Cover waives the 36-month pre-existing disease wait on seven named conditions – diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, asthma, obesity, hypothyroidism and coronary artery disease where the PTCA was over a year ago – but cover begins on the 31st day of the policy, after the standard 30-day initial wait. It can only be taken on your first policy with the insurer and cannot be combined with the PED wait period modification.

What does the Unlimited Sum Insured option cover?

It removes the annual sum insured ceiling, but it is not compatible with everything else in the plan. The brochure notes that the cumulative bonus, unlimited automatic recharge, Loyalty Boost, Infinity Bonus, Unlimited Care and Tenure Multiplier do not apply alongside the Unlimited Sum Insured option, because each of those works by adding to a defined sum insured. Read your schedule carefully if this is the option you have been quoted.
