Senior Health Advantage in one table
Claim settlement and complaint figures are IRDAI-published and held centrally by nyvo, not taken from the insurer's marketing.
What Senior Health Advantage covers
These are the terms that decide what you are actually paid when you claim. Room rent, co-pay and restoration do more to shape a settlement than the sum insured does, and they are read from Care Health's own policy wording.

| Feature | This plan | What good looks like |
|---|---|---|
| What kind of plan this is | Indemnity health insurance aimed at older buyers, in two entry-age variants. It reimburses hospital bills up to the sum insured. | Read this first |
| Entry age | Elite: 45 to under 60. Premium: 60 upwards, with no maximum entry age. Exit age is lifelong on both. | Premium is the variant that stays open after 60 |
| Pre-existing wait | 12 months of continuous cover. Named ailments wait 24 months, and the initial wait is 30 days. | 12 months is genuinely short for this age band |
| Sum insured | ₹1 lakh to ₹3 crore – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 75 lakh, then ₹1 crore, ₹2 crore and ₹3 crore. | ₹10 lakh or more for a metro admission |
| Co-payment | None compulsory. A 20% co-payment on every claim from a hospital outside the Annexure III list applies only if you choose the optional Smart Select benefit, which lowers the premium. A voluntary co-payment, if you choose one, rises by 10 percentage points once the entry or renewal age is above 70. | Leave Smart Select off unless your hospitals are on its list |
Senior Health Advantage waiting periods: when each part of the cover starts
Waiting periods run from the day cover began, not from the day you fall ill, and they run in parallel rather than one after another.
| Initial waiting period | 30 days |
|---|---|
| Pre-existing disease | 12 months of continuous cover |
| Named ailments | 24 months |
Senior Health Advantage exclusions: what the plan will not pay for
Every policy carries exclusions, and they are the clauses people read for the first time at claim stage. These are the ones worth knowing before you buy.
Where Senior Health Advantage falls short
No plan is right for everyone, and a page that only lists strengths is not much use to you. These are the gaps we would raise on a call before recommending it.
Senior Health Advantage questions, answered
What is the difference between Elite and Premium?
Entry age. Elite is for people aged 45 to just under 60. Premium starts at 60 and has no maximum entry age. Both renew for life and both offer the same ₹1 lakh to ₹3 crore range.
How long do pre-existing conditions wait?
12 months of continuous cover. That is half the 24 months most senior plans apply and a third of the 36 months some do, and it is the strongest thing about this policy.
When does the 20% co-payment apply?
Only if you choose the optional Smart Select benefit, which lowers the premium in exchange for using the hospitals on the policy's Annexure III list; treatment anywhere else then carries a 20% co-payment on every claim. The base plan has no compulsory co-payment. A voluntary co-payment, if you choose one, rises by 10 percentage points once the entry or renewal age is above 70.
Is there a room rent limit?
Under ₹5 lakh of cover, yes: the daily room allowance is 1% of what you insured, and ICU 2%. From ₹5 lakh upwards you get a single private air-conditioned room with no percentage limit at all.
Read it from the insurer
We summarise. The policy wording is the contract, and it is the only document that settles a dispute. These links go to the insurer's own pages.
Understand the terms before you commit
A plan page tells you what this policy does. These explain why each term matters and what it costs you when it is missing.
Other Care Health plans we have read
Care Health files these separately, and the terms differ between them. If you are choosing within the range, compare the waiting periods and the exclusions rather than the sum insured.
