Shriram General health insurance renewal

Where to renew, what a missed date actually costs you, and the one window each year in which you can move to a different insurer without losing the waiting periods you have already served.

Renew your Shriram General policy

Shriram General official renewal portal →

You will need your policy number and the mobile number registered on the policy. This is Shriram General’s own portal; NYVO does not take renewal payments.

Renew before the due date, not during the grace period

A health policy normally carries a grace period after the due date in which you can still pay and keep your continuity. It is a safety net for the payment, not for your cover: a hospitalisation that happens during the grace period is generally rejected, because the policy was unpaid at that moment. Treat the due date as the deadline and set a reminder 15 to 30 days ahead, which also leaves time to review the plan.

What a lapse costs you

If the grace period passes, the policy lapses and you are buying a new one. That resets every waiting period from zero: the initial 30 days, the two-year list for specific illnesses, and the pre-existing disease clause. Someone three years into a four-year pre-existing wait loses all three years. It is the most expensive administrative mistake in health insurance, and it is entirely avoidable.

Renewal is your only window to port

If Shriram General no longer suits you, renewal is the one moment you can move without starting again. Porting carries your accrued waiting periods to the new insurer, up to your existing sum insured plus eligible bonus. Apply 45 to 60 days before renewal: IRDAI’s window generally closes 30 days before your policy expires, porting is never allowed mid-term, and it cannot be done during the grace period. Porting is a right to apply, not a right to be accepted, so keep the existing policy alive until the new one is confirmed.

Shriram General renewal, questions answered

How do I renew my Shriram General health insurance policy?

Renew on Shriram General's official renewal portal with your policy number and registered mobile number. Do it before the due date, not during the grace period, so cover and accrued waiting periods carry over without a break.

What happens if I miss the Shriram General renewal date?

A health policy usually carries a grace period after the due date in which you can still pay and keep continuity. The trap is that a hospitalisation during the grace period is generally rejected: the policy is unpaid at that moment. If the grace period passes the policy lapses, and a fresh one restarts every waiting period from zero, including the pre-existing disease clause.

Can I switch away from Shriram General at renewal?

Yes. Renewal is the only point at which you can port, and your accrued waiting periods carry over to the new insurer up to your existing sum insured plus eligible bonus. Apply 45 to 60 days before renewal: IRDAI's window generally closes 30 days before expiry, and porting is never allowed mid-term.

Will my premium go up at renewal?

Usually, yes. Premiums rise with your age band and with medical inflation, and insurers may reprice a plan across the board with IRDAI's approval. A rise on its own is not a reason to switch. What matters is what the wording gives you at that price, which is the comparison worth making before you pay.

Not sure whether to renew or move?

We earn nothing from you staying with Shriram General or leaving. An NYVO advisor will read your wording against what else is available and tell you plainly whether the renewal is worth paying.
