IndusInd General Health Super Top Up

A super top-up with a 12-month pre-existing wait rather than the usual 36, and a waiver of deductible that unlocks after four consecutive renewals. It pays above an annual aggregate deductible, so it is bought to sit on top of an existing policy rather than replace one.

Read from IndusInd General Insurance Company Limited's own policy wording and prospectus. Last checked against those documents on . The wording you are issued is the contract.

02Cover

What Health Super Top Up covers

These are the terms that decide what you are actually paid when you claim. Room rent, co-pay and restoration do more to shape a settlement than the sum insured does, and they are read from IndusInd General's own policy wording.

What this plan does
03Waiting periods

Health Super Top Up waiting periods: when each part of the cover starts

Waiting periods run from the day cover began, not from the day you fall ill, and they run in parallel rather than one after another.

Pre-existing disease12 months of continuous cover
Specified diseases and procedures24 months of continuous cover
04Exclusions

Health Super Top Up exclusions: what the plan will not pay for

Every policy carries exclusions, and they are the clauses people read for the first time at claim stage. These are the ones worth knowing before you buy.

Not coveredIndicative, not exhaustive. Your policy wording is the contract.
01Any claim below the deductible. That is the design of the product, but a year of small claims pays nothing.
02Pre-existing diseases and their direct complications, until 12 months of continuous cover.
03The listed specified diseases and procedures, until 24 months of continuous cover.
04Where the sum insured is increased, the waiting periods start again on the increase only.
05The honest bit

Where Health Super Top Up falls short

No plan is right for everyone, and a page that only lists strengths is not much use to you. These are the gaps we would raise on a call before recommending it.

Worth knowing before you buyNone of these are dealbreakers on their own. They are the trade-offs this plan asks you to accept.
01It is not a standalone policy. A super top-up pays only above the deductible, so if your base cover lapses or a claim falls below the deductible, nothing is paid.
02The insurer settles 87.3% of claims roughly one in eight not paid, and the weakest record among the top-ups we cover. Its complaint volume of 4.4 per 10,000 is excellent, which suggests declined claims are rarely contested rather than rarely declined. Weigh that carefully.
03The documents are filed under the Reliance General name and UIN prefix while the company now trades as IndusInd General. Check the paperwork you are shown matches the entity you think you are buying from.
04The deductible resets every policy year, so an illness spanning two policy years crosses it twice.
06FAQs

Health Super Top Up questions, answered

Is this Reliance or IndusInd?

The same company. Reliance General Insurance now trades as IndusInd General Insurance. The product documents and UIN still carry the Reliance name, which is normal after a rebrand, but the entity behind the policy is IndusInd General.

Why does the 12-month pre-existing wait matter?

Most top-ups make you wait 36 months before a pre-existing condition is covered. This one waits 12. If you are buying because of a condition you already have, that is two years of exposure removed.

Do I need an existing policy to buy this?

In practice, yes. It only pays above the deductible you choose, so every claim below that figure is yours. It is designed to sit on top of a retail policy or an employer's cover.
