What Health Gain Plus covers
These are the terms that decide what you are actually paid when you claim. Room rent, co-pay and restoration do more to shape a settlement than the sum insured does, and they are read from IndusInd General's own policy wording.
| Feature | This plan | What good looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Co-payment | 20% on every claim if the insured was 61 or older when the first policy started · 20% more if you pay Zone B rates and treat in Zone A | No Co-payment |
| Room Rent Limit | Single private air-conditioned room · proportionate deduction if you take a higher category | No room rent capping |
| Disease sub-limit | Modern treatment capped at 50% of base cover · organ donor 50%, max ₹5 lakh · ambulance ₹1,500 per hospitalisation | No sub-limit |
| No Claim Bonus | 33.33% of base sum insured per claim-free year, capped at 100% · falls 33.33% for every claim year | 50% each year (Minimum upto 100%) |
| Restoration Benefit | One reinstatement a year: 100% of base cover for an unrelated illness, but only 20% for the same illness | 100% restoration once in a year |
| Extra Sum Insured | Adds 20% of base sum insured on the same claim, within a single hospitalisation | Included |
| Pre-Hospitalization | 60 days | At least 60 days |
| Post-Hospitalization | 60 days | At least 120 days |
| Consumables | Not in the base plan – Consumable Cover is an optional add-on, and only from ₹5 lakh cover | Consumables covered |
| Accommodation Bonus | ₹1,000 a day for each completed 24 hours in a twin-sharing room or below | Included |
| Day Care Treatment | Covered up to the sum insured | Covered without a capped list |
| Entry age | Adults 18 to 65, with no upper limit at ₹3 lakh cover · children 91 days to 25 years · no maximum cover-ceasing age | No maximum entry age |
Health Gain Plus add-ons you can buy with it
Each of these costs extra and each has its own conditions. Some are genuinely worth it; several exist to patch a gap in the base plan. Ask what each one adds before it goes on your quote.
Health Gain Plus discounts you can ask for
Published discounts on this plan. Most are applied at quote stage rather than offered, so it is worth naming the ones you qualify for. Every figure is a ceiling, not a promise - what you actually get depends on the case.
| Discount | Worth | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Voluntary Aggregate Deductible | Priced to the deductible | Agree to pay the first ₹10,000, ₹25,000, ₹50,000 or ₹1 lakh of claims each year and the premium falls. Available at every sum insured, including ₹3 lakh. |
| Twin-sharing room option | Priced to the option | Trading the single private AC room down to twin sharing lowers the premium, and the ₹1,000-a-day Accommodation Bonus then pays out whenever you use that room or below. |
From the plan prospectus. The Health Gain range prices its flexibility through the optional covers rather than a discount grid.
Health Gain Plus waiting periods: when each part of the cover starts
Waiting periods run from the day cover began, not from the day you fall ill, and they run in parallel rather than one after another.
| Initial Waiting Period | 30 days |
|---|---|
| Covid-19 | 15 days |
| Specific Illness | 24 months |
| Vision correction | 24 months |
| Pre-Existing Disease | 36 months, reducible to 24 or 12 with the optional cover |
The named illnesses that wait 24 months
Payable once the policy has run 24 months without a break; the wait does not apply to an accident. This list is indicative – the prospectus groups the full set by organ system.
Health Gain Plus exclusions: what the plan will not pay for
Every policy carries exclusions, and they are the clauses people read for the first time at claim stage. These are the ones worth knowing before you buy.
Where Health Gain Plus falls short
No plan is right for everyone, and a page that only lists strengths is not much use to you. These are the gaps we would raise on a call before recommending it.
Health Gain Plus questions, answered
Is restoration on Health Gain Plus really 100%?
Only for an unrelated illness. The base plan gives one reinstatement a year at 100% of the base sum insured if the second claim is for something different, but caps it at 20% of base cover if it is the same illness or injury. On a ₹3 lakh policy that is ₹60,000. The optional Enhanced Covers bundle removes the distinction, making reinstatement unlimited and paying the full 100% for the same illness too.
Are consumables covered?
Not in the base plan. Consumable Cover sits inside the optional Enhanced Covers group, and the prospectus restricts optional covers to sums insured of ₹5 lakh and above. So at ₹3 lakh you cannot buy it, and at ₹5 lakh you must ask for it by name. Without it, gloves, syringes and the rest of the non-medical list come out of your pocket after the claim settles.
Is there a co-payment?
Two, and both are easy to miss. Anyone who first entered the policy aged 61 or above bears 20% of every assessed claim, for as long as they hold the policy – the optional Removal of Co-Payment cover waives it. Separately, if you pay Zone B premium and take treatment in a Zone A city, a further 20% applies on top. The Accommodation Bonus and accidental death benefit are exempt.
What room can I use?
A single private air-conditioned room on Plan Plus and Plan Power; only Plan Prime pays at actuals. Take a higher category and a proportionate deduction applies to the associated charges, not just the room rate. The Change in Room Rent Limits option upgrades you to actuals, and unlike most add-ons here it is available at every sum insured.
How fast does the bonus build?
33.33% of your base sum insured for every claim-free policy year, capped at 100%, so three clean years double a ₹3 lakh cover to ₹6 lakh. Make a claim and it drops back by the same 33.33%. The Guaranteed Cumulative Bonus option inside Enhanced Covers stops that reduction, which matters more on a small sum insured than the headline percentage does.
Is this still a Reliance policy?
The insurer is now IndusInd General Insurance Company Limited, following the rebrand from Reliance General Insurance. The product filing, the UIN and the policy documents still carry the Reliance Health Gain name, and existing policies continue unchanged. If a document or a quote says Reliance General, it is the same company.

Understand the terms before you commit
A plan page tells you what this policy does. These explain why each term matters and what it costs you when it is missing.
Other IndusInd General plans we have read
IndusInd General files these separately, and the terms differ between them. If you are choosing within the range, compare the waiting periods and the exclusions rather than the sum insured.
