Easy Health in one table
| Insurer | HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Limited |
|---|---|
| Sum insured | ₹1 lakh to ₹50 lakh. |
| Entry age | 91 days and above, with no maximum entry age. Adult dependants from 18. A child between 91 days and 5 years can be covered only if a parent is also insured. |
Claim settlement and complaint figures are IRDAI-published and held centrally by NYVO, not taken from the insurer's marketing.
What Easy Health covers
These are the terms that decide what you are actually paid when you claim. Room rent, co-pay and restoration do more to shape a settlement than the sum insured does, and they are read from HDFC ERGO's own policy wording.
| Feature | This plan | What good looks like |
|---|---|---|
| What kind of plan this is | Indemnity health insurance. It reimburses hospital bills up to the sum insured, on an individual or family floater basis. | Read this first |
| Entry age | 91 days and above, with no maximum entry age and no cover-ceasing age on renewal. An adult dependant enters from 18. | One of the few plans with no upper entry age |
| Who counts as family | Spouse, dependent children, dependent parents, parents-in-law, grandparents and grandchildren – up to 6 people on one policy. | Wider than most policies allow |
| Sum insured | ₹1 lakh to ₹50 lakh. An optional critical illness benefit adds 50% or 100% of the sum insured, subject to a minimum of ₹1 lakh and a maximum of ₹10 lakh. | ₹10 lakh or more for a metro admission |
| Hospitalisation window | Pre-hospitalisation 60 days, post-hospitalisation 90 days. Day care and domiciliary treatment are covered. | 90 days post is longer than most |
Easy Health waiting periods: when each part of the cover starts
Waiting periods run from the day cover began, not from the day you fall ill, and they run in parallel rather than one after another.
| Initial waiting period | 30 days |
|---|---|
| Specified diseases and procedures | 24 months of continuous cover |
Easy Health exclusions: what the plan will not pay for
Every policy carries exclusions, and they are the clauses people read for the first time at claim stage. These are the ones worth knowing before you buy.
Where Easy Health falls short
No plan is right for everyone, and a page that only lists strengths is not much use to you. These are the gaps we would raise on a call before recommending it.
Easy Health questions, answered
Is there a maximum entry age on Easy Health?
No. The policy covers people from 91 days upwards with no upper entry age, and no cover-ceasing age on renewal. That is unusual and it is the main reason this plan gets recommended for older buyers – though you should still price it before assuming it is the answer.
Who can I cover on one policy?
Up to 6 people: spouse, dependent children, dependent parents, parents-in-law, grandparents and grandchildren. On a floater that means up to 2 adults and 5 children; on an individual policy, up to 4 adults and 5 children.
What are the waiting periods?
30 days initially, other than for accidents, and 24 months for the specified diseases and procedures listed in the wording. Where a specified disease also falls under the pre-existing waiting period, the longer of the two applies.
How long are pre- and post-hospitalisation covered?
60 days before admission and 90 days after discharge, for consultations, investigations and medicines. The 90-day post-hospitalisation window is longer than most policies offer.
Read it from the insurer
We summarise. The policy wording is the contract, and it is the only document that settles a dispute. These links go to the insurer's own pages.
Understand the terms before you commit
A plan page tells you what this policy does. These explain why each term matters and what it costs you when it is missing.
Other HDFC ERGO plans we have read
HDFC ERGO files these separately, and the terms differ between them. If you are choosing within the range, compare the waiting periods and the exclusions rather than the sum insured.
