DigiProtect Term Plan
PNB MetLife's online term plan. An individual, non-linked, non-participating pure protection product with cover from ₹50 lakh, running to age 85. Terminal illness is built in - the claim accelerates the death benefit rather than paying on top of it, and the policy ends once it is paid.
The things that decide it
DigiProtect Term Plan in one table
| Insurer | PNB MetLife India Insurance Company Limited |
|---|---|
| Sum insured | From ₹50 lakh, with the upper limit set by the insurer's Board Approved Underwriting Policy rather than stated in the brochure. |
Claim settlement and complaint figures are IRDAI-published and held centrally by NYVO, not taken from the insurer's marketing.
What DigiProtect Term Plan does, and what it does not
Term insurance is a narrow product, so the useful question is not how this plan scores against a benchmark - it is what it pays for and what it leaves out. Both lists come from PNB MetLife's own documents.
- Cover from ₹50 lakh, running to age 85
- Terminal illness benefit built in, no extra premium
- Limited premium over 10 or 15 years, or regular pay
- Terminal illness paid on top of the death benefit - it accelerates it, and the policy then ends
- Maturity benefit - nothing is paid if you survive the term
What this plan will not pay for
Every policy carries exclusions, and they are the clauses people read for the first time at claim stage. These are the ones worth knowing before you buy.
Not covered
Indicative, not exhaustive. Your policy wording is the contract.
- Suicide within 12 months of policy commencement or revival - the payout is limited to a return of premiums, per the standard clause. Read the policy wording for the exact percentage.
- The policy terminates on payment of 100% of the death or terminal illness claim. A terminal illness payout is not additional cover - it brings the death benefit forward.
Where DigiProtect Term Plan falls short
No plan is right for everyone, and a page that only lists strengths is not much use to you. These are the gaps we would raise on a call before recommending it.
Worth knowing before you buy
None of these are dealbreakers on their own. They are the trade-offs this plan asks you to accept.
- PNB MetLife draws 44.33 complaints on the owner's 2022-25 table - roughly nineteen times Aditya Birla Sun Life's 2.33. Its settlement ratio is excellent at 99.4%, which tells you claims get paid; the complaint volume tells you the process is not smooth.
- The terminal illness benefit accelerates the death benefit instead of adding to it. If it pays out, your family gets nothing further on death.
- The brochure defers the maximum sum assured to the underwriting policy, so the cover actually available is not knowable until you apply.
- No maturity benefit. Survive the term and nothing comes back.
