Extra Care Plus in one table
| Insurer | Bajaj General Insurance Company Limited |
|---|---|

Claim settlement and complaint figures are IRDAI-published and held centrally by NYVO, not taken from the insurer's marketing.
What Extra Care Plus covers
These are the terms that decide what you are actually paid when you claim. Room rent, co-pay and restoration do more to shape a settlement than the sum insured does, and they are read from Bajaj General's own policy wording.
| Feature | This plan | What good looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-existing disease wait | 12 months of continuous cover | 36 months is the market norm – this is a third of it |
| Entry age | 3 months to 80 years at the start of the policy period | Most top-ups close entry at 65 |
| How the deductible works | Annual aggregate. Every claim in the policy year counts towards the same deductible, so several smaller admissions can cross it together. | Aggregate is better than per-claim |
| Air ambulance | Where the optional air ambulance cover is taken, the deductible is not applied to that claim – it pays from the first rupee | Rare carve-out from the deductible |
| Portability credit | Where you have been continuously covered without a break, the waiting period is reduced by the length of the prior cover | Ask for it – it is not applied automatically |
Extra Care Plus add-ons you can buy with it
Each of these costs extra and each has its own conditions. Some are genuinely worth it; several exist to patch a gap in the base plan. Ask what each one adds before it goes on your quote.
Extra Care Plus waiting periods: when each part of the cover starts
Waiting periods run from the day cover began, not from the day you fall ill, and they run in parallel rather than one after another.
| Pre-existing disease | 12 months of continuous cover |
|---|---|
| Specified diseases and procedures | As listed in the policy wording |
Extra Care Plus exclusions: what the plan will not pay for
Every policy carries exclusions, and they are the clauses people read for the first time at claim stage. These are the ones worth knowing before you buy.
Where Extra Care Plus falls short
No plan is right for everyone, and a page that only lists strengths is not much use to you. These are the gaps we would raise on a call before recommending it.
Extra Care Plus questions, answered
Why does the 12-month pre-existing wait matter so much?
Most health policies, and almost every top-up, make you wait 36 months before a pre-existing condition is covered. Extra Care Plus waits 12. If you are buying a top-up because you already have a condition you know about, that difference is two years of exposure – which is usually worth more than a lower premium elsewhere.
Can I add a parent in their seventies?
Yes. Entry runs to 80, which is unusual – most top-ups close at 65. The premium at that age will be high and the deductible still applies, so it solves the availability problem rather than the cost one.
Do I need an existing policy to buy this?
In practice, yes. It only pays above the aggregate deductible you choose, so every claim below that figure is yours. It is designed to sit on top of a retail policy or an employer's cover.
What does 'annual aggregate' deductible mean?
Every claim in the policy year counts towards the same deductible rather than each claim facing it separately. Three admissions of ₹40,000 against a ₹1 lakh deductible cross it together; under a per-claim deductible none of them would.
Read it from the insurer
We summarise. The policy wording is the contract, and it is the only document that settles a dispute. These links go to the insurer's own pages.
Understand the terms before you commit
A plan page tells you what this policy does. These explain why each term matters and what it costs you when it is missing.
Other Bajaj General plans we have read
Bajaj General files these separately, and the terms differ between them. If you are choosing within the range, compare the waiting periods and the exclusions rather than the sum insured.
